SPL schedule 3 Celtic v Aberdeen matches in 11 days!

MATCH OFF Celtic news

Bad news

Celtic’s postponed match at Aberdeen on December 4 has been rescheduled for Tuesday February 1.

The new date means that the clubs will face each other on January 22 in the SPL, January 29 in the semi-final of the Co-Operative Cup and again on February 1 in the SPL.

Between the first two matches with Aberdeen Celtic host Hearts in the SPL, the weekend  of February 5/6 is for the Scottish Cup which could provide yet another Celtic-Aberdeen match.

This afternoon the SPL announced the scheduling of 17 postponed matches but no-one seems to have given thought any thought to two clubs playing against each other three times in 11 days.

Celtic’s other postponed fixture, away to Hamilton Accies has been rescheduled for Wednesday January 12 which would have seemed a better date for the Aberdeen match.

As things stand if there are no further postponements the SPL have only to find dates for Rangers away matches at St Johnstone and Dundee United to get the card back on course for completion before the split.
