Richie Towell ready for Rangers clash

|

Richie TowellLoan Celt Richie Towell is looking to make an instant impact at Hibs- starting tomorrow night against Rangers.

The 19-year-old made the move along the M8 this morning and goes straight into the Hibs squad that faces Rangers tomorrow at Easter Road.

“It is a brilliant move for me and I’m delighted to come to a big club like Hibernian,” he said.

“Now I want to make an impact in the team and help Hibernian to climb up the table.

“It would be brilliant to be able to make my debut against Rangers; games don’t get any bigger than that.

“Hopefully I can play some part in the game and help Hibernian win.

“The time with Hibernian will be massive for my development. I trained for the first time with the squad today and everything is really positive.”

As well as Towell Hibs boss Colin Calderwood has also added Matt Thornhill (Nottingham Forest) and Martin Scott (Ross County) to his squad.

Hibs haven’t scored a goal yet this year but go into tomorrow’s match knowing that they’ve already beaten Rangers this season- winning 3-0 at Ibrox in November.

“Richie caught our attention when we played against Celtic in a bounce match,” Calderwood admitted.

“He will help to freshen up our squad and will be a good addition between now and the end of the season.”

Yesterday Towell was named in the Ireland u-21 squad to face Cyprus on February 9.
