Paul Lambert steers clear of QPR controversy

|

Paul Lambert Celtic newsPaul Lambert takes Norwich to Portsmouth on Monday with their promotion hopes shrouded in mystery.

An FA enquiry into QPR’s signing of Alejandro Faurlin- through a third party- could see the league leaders docked 15 points and present Norwich with automatic promotion alongside Cardiff.

Lambert will shut out all that speculation knowing that beating Portsmouth and Coventry next weekend will guarantee promotion regardless of the enquiry into QPR.

“Whatever happens now I’m delighted with them,” the Norwich boss said about his squad. “There’s a group of lads who will run through walls for you. They’re not flamboyant or egotistical.

“You are only as good as the guy sitting next to you in the dressing room.”

Waiting on a slip up from Norwich are Cardiff City who host Middlesbrough on Monday ahead of the Portsmouth-Norwich match.

Tony Mowbray’s side are free from the relegation battle with attention focused on the farce going on at the top of the table.

QPR are furious about reports that they could be hit with a 15 point deduction and have bizarrely called on the FA to reveal the name of the source who spoke to The Sun about the penalty deduction.

Whilst BBC Scotland continue to hide the identity of their ‘source close to the Craig Whyte camp’ it’s highly unlikely that The Sun will blow the whistle on their own highly placed/senior source.

On Friday The Sun reported a source saying: “There’s no question QPR have broken the rules. They know it as well. The only debate is what to do about it.

“If they aren’t found guilty you might as well scrap the rules about third-party owners.”

QPR are currently six points clear of third placed Cardiff and need a point away to Malky Mackays Watford to be assured of finishing in the top two- and leave the FA with a difficult decision over what their punishment should be.
