Kris Commons: Scott Brown wants to be penalty taker

|

Scott Brown Celtic newsKris Commons has revealed that Scott Brown has offered to solve Celtic’s penalty problem.

Georgios Samaras’ missed penalty at Ibrox could have thrown the title race dramatically Celtic’s way but Allan McGregor’s save left the championship on a knife edge.

Strikers Samaras, Gary Hooper and Anthony Stokes have all missed their last penalties with Commons boasting a one out of one conversion record after netting against Aberdeen in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup.

“We have been on the training ground practising them,” the former Derby man revealed. “Quite a few are staking their claim.

“Scott Brown is one, but I am sure he will be passing the ball on to someone who is a bit more comfortable with it. I will take one without a doubt.

“Sammy wanted it at Ibrox, he didn’t have to apologise. When we practise them in training he rarely misses.

“Obviously he missed at Ibrox but I know Sammy is itching to get playing again. He put a good shift in and certainly caused them problems.

“We spoke about it before the game and I did ask what would happen if I got on.

“He said he was confident of putting the ball in the back of the net but sometimes things don’t go to plan and to be fair their keeper pulled off a great save.”
