Late double for LBoIS brings joy to Henrik Larsson

|

Henrik Larsson newsHenrik Larsson refused to get carried away as Landskrona BoIS beat Jönköping Sondra 2-0 tonight with two goals in the last ten minutes.

It was the first game in five that LBoIS have won but despite picking up all three points they remain in second bottom place in the Superetten (Swedish Second Division).

Substitute Linus Olssen found the net five minutes after coming onto the park with Matthias Andersson securing the points in the 87th minute.

No matter what honours he won or records he set during seven magnificent years at Celtic Larsson rarely allowed his thoughts to look beyond the next match and is using the exact same philosophy in management.

“It’s only one game,” he said after tonight’s win. “I’m so happy, even if it does not look so, for I am dead tired but this is great fun for the guys.

“We have played well in virtually all season but we’ve just have not had that little fluency required. Jönköping has a good chance to go in front but we held in and scored two very late goals. That’s football in a nutshell.

“We had no rights to actually come up here and take three points today, but it shows that we have people to step up and show what they are capable of doing. It is extremely gratifying for me as coach.”

LBoIS have been without upto seven regulars recently due to an injury crisis.

Meanwhile over in Russia Marc Crosas’ Volga slipped to third bottom of the table after losing 1-0 away to Amkar Perm.

After a promising start that included three wins in their first four games the newly promoted side are finding things much tougher with just one draw from their last five matches.

Aiden McGeady also had a disappointing weekend with Spartak Moscow losing 3-0 away to Zenit St Petersburg leaving Spartak stuck in midtable with 16 points from 11 matches.
