George Peat points the finger of blame at John Reid

|

George Peat Celtic newsOutgoing SFA President George Peat has blamed John Reid for the troubled season with Celtic.

Peat, whose presence at a disciplinary hearing for Neil Lennon was described as ‘contrary to the principles of fair play’ by Lord Carloway, seemed to be demob happy as he blamed Reid rather than the SFA’s archaic rule book for a season of unrest.

The former Airdrie and Stenhousemuir ‘supremo’ will step down as President after the SFA AGM on June 6 and couldn’t resist another attack on Celtic with Reid his main target.

“The impression they gave was that everyone was against them,” Peat claimed. “I’ve had a couple of meetings with chief executive Peter Lawwell this last season where we’ve sorted things out and things have gone well.

“After the first one, unfortunately, the club had their agm and the chairman spoke and blew out of the water everything Peter and I had agreed.

“John Reid was asking for the SFA to have a good look at itself.

“I thought he knew perfectly well that we were doing that. Henry McLeish had been working for over a year at the time and his report was imminent. That was a wee bit annoying because everyone knew we were in the process of reform.

“After another recent meeting, Mr Paul McBride [Celtic manager Neil Lennon’s legal representative] got involved and starting stirring things up about the SFA.

“Peter was well aware of what we were trying to achieve at the SFA and agreed with the route we were going down.”

Steven Craven Celtic newsReid’s AGM criticism was aimed firmly at Dougie McDonald and the SFA’s refusal to take action against the referee who repeatedly lied to Lennon.

Only after assistant Steven Craven had resigned and told the inside story of what went on at Tannadice did McDonald acknowledge that he had lied to Lennon.

At the Celtic AGM Reid warned: “No-one who has admitted to lying to our manager over important decisions should remain in post. He (McDonald] should go and if he didn’t resign, then he should have been removed from post.

“There cannot be integrity in a system that allows a referee to lie and, allegedly, to try to get others to lie about a crucial decision affecting a game. There cannot be a system that permits that and retains integrity.

“So we need a fundamental review but there’s no question that the referee should either be removed, or remove himself.”

The McLeish report will be put to a vote at the SFA AGM threatening to blow away the old boys network of committees that domimate the way that the SFA works.

Despite the criticism of Lord Carloway, which would almost certainly have resulted in Peat being disciplined if he wasn’t retirning, the SFA President still believes that he did nothing wrong by sitting in on Lennon’s hearing.

He added: “What people don’t realise is that there was another manager sanctioned at that hearing but I got all the publicity because I sat in on the Neil Lennon case,” Peat explained.

“A certain legal representative of Neil Lennon’s then came out in the press and indicated that I shouldn’t have been there. As if I had some Svengali-type of influence over the rest of the committee.

“I was perfectly within my rights.”

Peat is a bigot and a Rangers fan who was scared stiff that should the SFA be allowed to lose their grip on the bias and bigotry, his team were not going to win the title.

Sure, Henry McLeish recommended an overhaul of the bigoted SFA. What should have been recommedended was an investigation, not an overhaul. The SFA is the most openly corrupt association in World Football.

They get away with it because they are so arrogant. While UEFA see it fit to penalize rangers fans as the most bigotted in the game, the SFA ignore it. Now, if they really wanted to clean the bigotry up, they woud aso penalize rangers, but as artof the same establishments, they never would. They support it instead.

Peat is an evil, arrogant bigot. He knew what was going on, supported it, and has the audacity to try pointing fingers at Reid.

Alcoholics, drug and sex addicts start to rehabilitize by first admitting they have a problem. Peat is a scumbag, a bigot, and a liar.

He watched Hugh Dallas bully and enforce punishment on refs who were fair in Celtic games. Dallas was a prime example of the arrogance in the Scottish game at the SFA level. Peat is going, but he should have been investigated and exposed, then publicy convicted, along with Hugh Dallas, and Dougie Dougie.

    • BinMonkey says:

Totally agree. Just because the media say Celtic fans are paranoid that everyone is against them doesn’t mean its not true. Hail Hail

  • Tim Zarrus says:

Mr Peat totally fails to mention the fact that a senior referee had outrageously and deliberately lied to Neil Lennon who was subsequently treated so severely by the SFA by tripling his touchline ban from 2 to 6 games, and it was only after Paul McBride’s intervention that it was cut to 4.

It also smacks of some kind of revenge on Celtic that Lennon was treated in such a manner despite the fact it was his first offence. McBride’s uncovering of the loopholes in SFA regulations also made them look stupid and incompetent.

As for Lord Reid speaking out when he did, was he just expected to sit on his hands and say nothing against an organisation which not only had treated his manager so shabbily, but had perversely then tried to blame Celtic for somehow undermining Scottish football in general?

Mr Peat, if you need anyone to blame, try having a look in the mirror – if you can stand the sight!

  • Ian says:

It would be nice to celebrate Mr Peats going but the SFA will just find some other BIGOT to fill his blues shoes. Sectarian Bigotry alive and well and resides at Hampden.

  • Joe McHugh says:

I hope that JR has something to say about ‘gorgeous’ George just before he steps down from the Presidency.

    • lenny4myth2 says:

peat the cheat is lucky he was on his way out or Paul Mcbride would be showing him the door and exposing yet more bias, he would definitely be facing disciplinary action and could not hold onto his job after being called “contrary to the principles of fair play” by Lord Carloway.

He is yet another example of bias against Celtic, so we have the head of referees sacked for being an anti Catholic bigot in hugh dallas, a referee sacked for lying and attempting to cover it up, against Celtic, AND THE HEAD OF THE SFA! labelled contrary to the principles of fair play in reference to how he has dealt with the Celtic manager!

And yet we are called paranoid?

As far as i was aware its not paranoid when there is blatant undeniable proof of something happening, i thought that was just called a true fact?

I dont believe these people have sat around together conspiring to cheat Celtic, they are just individualy bias and know its accepted at worst and helpful to further their careers at worst.

  • Pat Playlois says:

We have all been involved in arguments (discussions)(debates) with ignorant people who at the end of the argument when everyone is reconciled to letting it go, the idiot while departing, sticks his head back in the door for a parting jibe before running away.

This has now been bestowed upon us twice in recent weeks, once by Wah-Tay and now by sneaky Peat.

When he is officially out of office and thereby fair game, Dr John should give him a verbal volley which would make the need for laxatives redundant for a dozen years

  • Ciaran says:

Well said Pat. It seems the only way to get respect from the media in Scotland is to be a sneaky weasel, scoring petty points in the press.
Not capable or willing to say what has to be said in an open, face to face. Even a press conference where your comments could be challenged.
Oh, I almost forgot, your comments would have to be anti-Celtic.

  • tommy67 says:

Sorry not trying to climb onto the band wagon and simply agree with all comments above , but the fact is that everything that has been said in the posts are 100% true.

Last two comments that spring to mind from so called ” People who dont lie ” namly Watty “Pug nose Smith ” and now this bigoted git “Peat ” they have the audacity to suggest that all the troubles that Celtic have endured are their own making.

It’s so easy to make a cheap parting shot at Celtic management when they belive they wont be taken to task for thier filthy lies when they leave their ” Haven of power”. so why did they not make thier feelings clear when they were still in some capacity in football, simple they are ……..liars cheats and bigots good riddance to the huns

  • Mike Bhoyle says:

Peat is symbolic of all that is wrong in our game..
He is a bigot and a liar and is anti-Celtic.
I think I’m right in saying that his successor is Campbell Ogilvie of Rankers FC fame ??……
The Brotherhood is alive and well obviously….
More power to Celtic Fc in exposing these people for what they are…cheats ….end of…

    • lenny4myth2 says:

Ogilvie will be just as bad as the reigns pass from one gers man to the next as has always been the case, it’s the only way they can compete with the great Celtic FC, institutionalised bias, when Scotland eventually evolves the SFA and rangers fc will be used as prime examples of anti irishness and anti catholicism.

On that day rangers will be stripped of every trophy they ever won if their is any justice in the world, im sure they have deserved some of their trophies but unfortunately for them there will be no way to decipher which were deserved and which were gained through racism and bigotry.

  • Max says:

Can someone please explain to me how a club that received a fine and a close door game punishment from Uefa for the racist, sectarian and bigoted chanting and behaviour of their fans, and warned that if they don’t put their racist, sectarian and bigoted house in order they’ll get worse, can then be awarded the SFAs ‘family club of the year’ award?

    • lenny4myth2 says:

Not to mention Celtic Park being named the best club IN BRITAIN for match day experience this season, what do you expect though, ragers were given their “award” by the sfa and Celtic were given theirs by an independent group. File the ragers family club award under “yet more blatant cringe worthy bias”

  • Tam says:

So Fifa has been rocked by corruption.

Why is it then, that we are told there is no corruption or bias in Scottish football, it could never happen here, you lot are paranoid ?

After all we are living in what is the most bigoted and anti Catholic / Irish, country in the Northern Hemisphere.

  • macbo says:

I agree with all thats been said here however nobody has mentioned the quote saying Peter Lawwell was happy to go along with Peat until Ried spoke out. If that is true it would seem Lawwell is not up to the job. He should have been fighting Celtics case not sitting agreeing to go along with Peats whitewash.

  • Joe McHugh says:

I think that Lawwell will be just as angry about this as Reid, I presume these talks were confidential and I’d expect Lawwell’s take on them to be vastly different to Peat’s interpretation.

  • Imatim says:

Peat is a despicable liar, bigot, racist, cheat and Hun sycophant.

It is no surprise he is trying to divide the Celtic Family with his comments.

Divide and rule. It’s Hun policy after all.

    • lenny4myth2 says:

His feeble attempt at digging out Reid is pathetic, im really sure Lawell sat down and said”no problem here peat, we agree that because the SFA disciplinary process is a bit out dated, once that’s overhauled we will be happy to be treated like 2nd class human beings, you can unfairly influence disciplinary committee decisions, refuse to tackle the racism, bigotry, death threats, attempted murder of our club manager, club QC and public figures who support Celtic, you can refuse to act on a referee lying to our manager and attempting to cover it up with the head of referees, just for good measure if rangers ever cause mayhem at a glasgow derby and have a few players sent off why not only punish our manager? and just for good measure you can piss in my tea every morning and sh@g my wife. ”

peat, you are nothing but the latest establishment member to be exposed, simply because your arrogance took over and you couldn’t conceal your hatred of Celtic, you are another hugh dallas/mike mcurry/gordon smith/jim farry.

  • lenny4myth2 says:

If peat wants to start making changes he can start by acknowledgeing Jimmy Mcgrorys treatment by Scotland, scottish footballs greatest ever goal scorer, only given 7 Scotland caps simply for playing for a football team linked to Irish Catholics. A public apology to his family and Celtic FC will be a start, then you can start making a list of the rest, yes it will take a long time to go through that list, but you have to start somewhere.
