Efrain Juarez concentrating on the Gold Cup

|

Efrain JuarezEfrain Juarez won’t make any decision on his club future until after playing in the Gold Cup for Mexco.

The midfielder had a storming start to his Celtic career but quickly fell out of Neil Lennon’s plans starting just one SPL match since the turn of the year.

Juarez was in Mexico side that drew 1-1 with Ecuador in Seattle last night and is focussing on the Gold Cup where Mexico will start the tournament a week today against El Salvador before facing Cuba and Costa Rica.

Asked about his club future he said: “I told my agent I want to focus one hundred percent in the selection, and the end of my participation in the Tri see (Mexican national side).

“He said many teams in Mexico have contacted him, I never close the doors, but I’ll leave all this to my agent. Now I do not think much about it, I’m one hundred percent focused with team.”

After appearing as a substitute against Ecuador the Celtic midfielder said: “Ecuador was a tough opponent, became at times very good things, we create spaces, we created chances which is encouraging.

“We are with the idea of ??doing a good Gold Cup, a good way. Every day I understand more things to ‘Chepo’ (the Mexican coach), every day the training is about what he wants and hopefully the next game preparation is more to address the Gold Cup.”

On Wednesday Mexico play New Zealand in their final warm up before defending the Gold Cup which runs from June 5-25.

It is a pity he never broke through, but he isn’t about to now. I’d let him go with a big thank you.

I would never undermine Lennon by asking for an explanation of why he hasn’t played, though I am interested. If it is something that can be resolved though, I would be happy to support him as a Celtic player. If it is not, then in Lennon I trust.

He looked like the next stillian petrov in the emirates tournament, was fantastic those couple of days.
Surely he can get a move to a decent team in Spain and perform well?
