John Kennedy Celtic newsCeltic’s u-19 side are back in action tomorrow, hosting St Johnstone at Lennoxtown with a 1pm kick off.

John Kennedy’s side went to the top of the table a fortnight ago with a 2-0 win away to Hearts with the hoops coach looking to build on that tomorrow.

Four of the Celtic squad were on duty with Scotland during the break but despite playing three internationals in five days Kennedy won’t have any hesitation about playing Marcus Fraser and Jackson Irvine tomorrow.

“I wouldn’t expect either of them to show any signs of tiredness and if they did they probably wouldn’t tell me,” Kennedy admitted only half joking.

“They are both young and fit and want to play as often as possible. We’ve had them back training for a few days and they are in our plans for the St Johnstone match.

“It would have been good to build on the win over Hearts but we did play a friendly last week and that gave a few players the chance to come in and take the place of our internationalists.

“We’ve got a good squad of players with a bit of depth and that’s always positive for a coach to work with.

“Against Hearts we made a few changes and we’ve got a lot of players looking to get into our starting eleven.”

St Johnstone have won two of their five matches this season and lost 2-1 at home to Dundee United in their last outing a fortnight ago.
