Derek Whyte Dubai newsFormer Celtic favourites Derek Whyte, Brian O’Neil, John Collins and Darren Jackson helped a Scotland legends side to a 3-2 win over England in Dubai.

A double from Andy McLaren and goal from guest player Louis Lancaster helped Scotland to victory at the Jebel Ali International Centre of Excellence.

Collins and Gary McAllister were at the heart of the Scotland side with Lee Sharpe, Des Walker and Paul Walsh the big hitters for England.

Dubai based Whyte was one of the driving forces behind the event and didn’t have to work too hard to recruit the Scotland side calling up some former team-mates.

Former QPR winger Trevor Sinclair gave England the lead just before half time but a double from McLaren early in the second half before Lancaster, one of eight punters to have won a place through an auction, stretched Scotland’s lead.

Sinclair pulled a goal back for England with three minutes left to play but it was the Scots that ended up victorious with the celebrations continuing onto the golf course the following day.

Never really liked Alex Rae one bit, facing a team with him in it twice gives double the reason to dislike him more!
