International call for forgotten defender

Mikael Lustig Celtic newsForgotten defender Mikael Lustig will play for Sweden away to Croatia on Wednesday.

The 25-year-old joined Celtic from Rosenborg last month but has yet to make the bench for a competitive match.

With Adam Matthews and Cha Du-Ri competing for the right-back position Lustig has been unable to play his way into Neil Lennon’s side.

Sunderland’s Sebastian Larsson is coach Eric Hamren’s back-up for Lustig but it’s likely that the Celtic defender will be in the side to face hosts Ukraine in the opening match in Group D which also includes England and France.

Despite his lack of domestic activity Lustig remains Sweden’s first choice right back and barring injury should be in the squad for Euro 2012.

Daniel Majstorovic is also in the Sweden squad for Wednesday’s match in Zagreb.

I thought he was injured. I would imagine Cha and Wilson are leaving in the summer. Can we really afford to have 4 RBs?
