SPL Celtic newsHibs chairman Rod Petrie has spoken out against the growing campaign to roll out the red carpet for a ‘newco’ Rangers 2012.

The liquidation of the Ibrox side is becoming more likely with every passing day as the extent of the clubs financial problems become evident.

European football can virtually be written off for next season with a massive question mark hanging over future season ticket money and the ownership of Ibrox and Murray Park.

On Monday the SPL clubs met at Hampden to discuss various financial issues with Petrie standing up for clubs that have lived within their means.

The Easter Road chief has been heavily criticised by supporters over the way that he has run the club but as one of the few debt free clubs in the SPL Petrie doesn’t want to see financial recklessness being rewarded.

“Scottish football needs successful clubs who are well-managed,” Petrie stated. “There are a lot of clubs in the SPL who have taken their own share of pain and who have adhered to their budgets.

“The thing that needs to be maintained right throughout is sporting integrity. We need to ensure that the competition is fair.

“Each club has its own budgets and its own resources. If you have a plan and can finance it then fine. The important thing is sporting integrity and we have to make sure that the competition is balanced and fair.

“We are going to see Rangers continue to play with a depleted squad against clubs who they played against earlier in the season when they had a stronger squad. We need to make sure the fixtures are fulfilled and it is a fair and balanced competition.”

sporting integrity is paramount in our game .And instead of them from govan getting sympathy from all corners, they should be lambasted. They should be excluded from SPL.

Seems tha integrity is no in Scottish football’s dictionary.

Don’t get this part. Just award 3 points to every team they cheated so far and to those they would have continued to cheat for the rest of the season. That makes everybody’s job easy. Lord Nimmo home to his own bed, SFA & SPL scrubbed clean in one fell swoop and D & P just need some elbow grease to shut the big blue doors in Govan and M. P. Don’t even need to recycle the keys. One case where throwing them away will be more than acceptable. Oh no, forgot about the danger of contamination to innocent wee animals animals, like rats say, if they should get infected. I like my life simple!!
