Charles Green newsCarlos Bocanegra has warned Rangers that he’ll quit Ibrox rather than take another pay cut.

The American joined Rangers on a two year contract from St Etienne last summer but had to accept a 75% pay cut as the club plunged into administration.

Next week the Rangers players are due to return to their original contracts but with no sign of a CVA and no statements from would-be owner Charlie Green it seems highly unlikely that they will come out of administration.

Bocanegra was a regular in the Rangers defence throughout last season but won’t be returning if the club remains in crisis.

“I won’t take another pay cut, hopefully it will all be sorted out,” he declared.

“That was a big decision for all the players, it wasn’t just me, everybody made a sacrifice. You come to a club expecting to have a guaranteed contract. Then you have to change it and it’s unfortunate. I don’t regret coming because I’m really enjoying the club.

“The other part is a bit frustrating, but you have got to get on with it and luckily it was a short period of time, three months.

“Hopefully it is sorted mid-June and we can move forward and put that behind us.

“I haven’t read anything about what is happening for a while. But apparently a consortium are buying it, so as long as they are not asking us again to take pay cuts I have no reason to want to go.”

The defender added: “I’m not going to say exactly how I feel there would be quite a lot of expletives if I did.

“But it’s too bad that there are people out there who take advantage and prey on other people. That’s frustrating because it means taking someone’s livelihood.

“We are footballers and hopefully we will find another job but there are people in the office or groundskeepers or people like that who maybe can’t pay rent next month.

“So that’s where where you realise that someone’s greed is going to affect so many people and yet they don’t care.

“He (Whyte) came to the locker room one time and told us we were in administration. That was it.”

Says it all really when a player at Dignity FC who works at the club day in day out hasn’t READ anything in a while partaining to the situation at his employers!!!! Tic-Toc HH

Big earners won’t lose out….they will just walk away for reduced fees or claim back full payment from new owners if / when they are in place.

With the club sinking into a certain liquidation, maybe Green will want to re-negotiate contracts (Especiall if the 3rd Division beckons). Right now they are losing £ 1m a month and with the players wages returning to normal Green won’t be able to cover the deficit for any extended period. I expect a fire sale / mass walkout as soon as the transfer window opens.

All of this “it wisnae me” stuff is disgusting from rangers fans, players, and management alike!

They all played a part! Who are they trying to kid? Sure, they are angry. They have a right to be angry! But they are angry at being caught because they thought it was normal for rangers to get favours the rest of the country didn’t get. they thought it was normal to get decisions other clubs didn’t get. they thought it was normal to get home draws in every cup every round. they thought it was normal, because it had become so! rangers cheated. this is simple, black and white, clear, unquestionable facts! They cheated. Stop finger pointing and get it fixed if you really want to stay afloat! Stop the George Bush-style “scaremongering” threatening other clubs with boycotts etc!

Let’s be honest, it would be wrong to allow these cheats to wipe the slate clean and start afresh without a penny of debt or an ounce of penalty, while all other honest clubs have to start the season owing money, money that rangers owed them for the most part!

It’s only now I wish they had won the Europa Cup a few years back in Manchester. This way, UEFA would be making sure they were getting answers instead of siitting on their hands watching from afar. rangers cheated you, me, and the whole small-minded Scottish game. They were ably abetted by underhanded goings on in the SFA and SPL.

They were certainly well assisted by a certain hugh the bigot dallas. This whole corrupt organization are still threatening boycotts. But will they have any fans to stay away anyway? let’s face it, they will be bottom of the league, refs are going to be scrutinised in their games now, and the bigots in power still think they can shred documents and get away with it all!

Brilliant!! I just read in the Evening Times that this lot are planning taking their own establishment to court over punishment for their corruption! This should be good!
I wonder if they have spoken with FC Sion over this action? UEFA love this stuff! Also, all of the things that have been hidden on rangers’ behalf will have to come out!! Too many of the establishment are hiding behind a heap of shredded paper! Oh BHOY!! I hope they do this!

  • These guys are a preach. Their whole working existence evolves around their employer and yet he says “I haven’t read anything about what is happening for a while.” Is it his Yankee brain or just HIS brain. Who would not be keeping right up to date with their job security? Even more so when the company is in sh**street. How much brainwashing goes on in Ra Big Hoose?

I don’t think I like the idea of Carlos continuing as the captain of our US MNT as it appears from his comments above, he is as thick as a plank. Klinsmann please, find us another!!

How do you not know what is going on regarding your club. Your salary and future depends on it
