Kyle Lafferty Sion newsFormer Rangers striker Kyle Lafferty has signed for Sion.

The 24-year-old joined Rangers from Burnley for £3.5m in 2008 and scored 38 goals during his time at Ibrox.

Lafferty was one of ten players to inform Charles Green that he wouldn’t be transferring his contract from Rangers to Sevco.

The Northern Irish striker had been expected to return to the Championship but has agreed a three year deal with the Swiss side who also signed former Rangers midfielder Rino Gatusso.

More departures are expected from Ibrox in the next few days with American duo Carlos Bocanegra and Maurice Edu dropping strong hints that they won’t be returning to Scotland.

Both players have been given an extended break due to international commitments at the end of last season but Bocanegra has admitted that he’d find it hard to play outwith the SPL.

The defender said: “There’s a ruling coming up on whether we stay in the SPL or not and after that I will really have to do some serious thinking and speak to all the coaching staff and other players.

“Then I’ll know more and I’d like to stay if everything works out. The biggest thing for me with Rangers was Champions League football because I’d never been able to play that in my career.

“That was the one competition I’d never been a part of – so the lure of playing in the Champions League was a huge attraction. But now that has been taken away from us, I’ve come to terms with the fact it might never happen.

“I’m hoping that it works out and we can stay in the SPL but I can’t speculate further because I don’t know what the decision is going to be.”

Another “one of their own” walking away. I feel for the poor Sion fans, they now have two muppets that run around like heidless chickens kicking opposition players.

Back to the obscurity from whence he came….he came – he saw – he was forgotten…Tata Laffatme.

Meanwhile Boca wants to speak to the players & All the coaching staff….can’t he afford a 5p phone call or won’t they take reverse charges. Either way, we won’t see him kicking anything again in Scotland…chalk up another for the Walkers.

It must be said that Lafferty was decent for them, scored a goal or two and was a def badge kisser. That said he was an embarrassment as a player,a person and an Ulsterman. He had the moral fortitude of snide cheat. Not seeing her big girl antics is a pleasing bit of news today

    • Joe says:

Lafferty was a fit in the recent rangers set up. He was exposed as a cheat. How appropriate! I’m sure Scotlands top player last season will always see laffble as a cheat who saw him given a disgraceful red card while he was with Aberdeen. A red card which gave the cheats from govan points which were the difference between winning and losing the league that season. Farewell to yet another joker and cheat.
