Friday D-Day for SFA v Rangers

|

SFA football newsFriday June 8 will be judgement day on Rangers as the SFA finally fall in line with FIFA.

Last week’s Court of Session decision that the SFA can’t apply a 12 month transfer embargo on the stricken Ibrox club has brought the ongoing crisis to a head with next season’s fixtures due to be published next week.

Both the SPL and SFA have been brushed aside by Rangers in the search for documentation this season with confusion over who represents the club adding to the problems.

Administrators Duff and Phelps are in talks with the SFA, would-be owner Charlie Green is reported to be anxious to speak to Stewart Regan while banished director Craig Whyte retains 85% of the clubs shares.

While the eyes of UEFA will be on Poland on Friday FIFA will be watching carefully how the SFA deal with punishing Rangers for bringing the game into disrepute through the non-payment of taxes and transfer fees.

Rangers appealed to the SFA against the transfer embargo then went to the Court of Session after the SFA appellate tribunal upheld the original decision.

Despite having football administrator Andrew Dickson and former Sheffield United chief Green involved the decision to go to court could prove extremely costly.

The Court of Session verdict means that the SFA are forced to choose between suspending the club or providing them with a token ban from the Scottish Cup.

Taking the Scottish Cup option would lead to unrest at a number of clubs who’ve found themselves being hit with the same punishment for minor registration issues.

Yesterday Dunferlmine owner John Yorkston said: “Most of us feel that because they are who they are, Rangers would get away with the lesser sentence but a cup suspension is not enough.

“This is more than a small administrative error that saw us and other clubs expelled from the Scottish Cup.”

The SFA hold their AGM on Wednesday and it’s believed that a number of clubs are growing hostile to the damage that the Rangers situation is causing the game.

While many clubs are sympathetic to Rangers the threat from FIFA to the Scotland international teams and European competitors has brought urgency to the issue.

Four weeks on from his arrival little is known of Green’s so called consortium and the money that convinced Duff and Phelps to install the Yorkshireman as preferred bidder for the club.

Last weeks CVA did nothing to boost the credibility of the club with a 12 month suspension to sort out the various on-going problems looking the most likely outcome of Friday’s hearing.

ALL football supporters should be emailing FIFA and UEFA to demand that Rangers FC are banned from all European competitions for 1 year for every season that they fielded an inelligible player due to them having dual under the table contracts. That would see Rangers FC being banned from Europe for 10-15years.

FIFA should go further and ban them from playing outside of Scotland for at least 5 years for all their cheating.

Celtic supporters should join the email campaign to FIFA to ensure that Rangers are not simply given the slap on the wrist that the SFA are likely to give them.

I wonder what would have happened had FIFA not spoken out? I’m sure there would have been a wee wink & few of those handshakes to go easy on them.

I still think ‘they’ knew what they were doing by going to court trying to get all of Scottish football punished for not letting them get away with their little misdemeanours (at least thats ALL the gers fans think they have done).

THE PUNISHMENT MUST FIT THE CRIME.

I had to come back just read the funniest thing. A comment from a ger that sums up how stupid & deluded they are. They questioned WTF FIFA has got to do with ‘them’ going to court they are not above the law! Then they hope if they take FIFA to court all Scottish clubs & team will be banned until it is resolved. You couldn’t make up the stuff they come out with.

The handshakes and winks will go on regardless unfortunately. These delays are all about the corrupt at SFA and SPL to find a token punishment for rangers. Do you really believe that this needed to take as long as it has? No, they are plotting more corruption!

Yes, they knew what they were doing.they really are the lowest of the low.

FIFA should be investigating the sfa and spl. They are rotten to the core.

If FIFA hadn’t intervened they would have let them off with a slap on the wrist.I hope and pray we can find another league to play in.

  • I have always believed that for the despicable disdain with which that club has shown towards everything and everybody in football, there should be only one sanction – expulsion and absolutely nothing leass.

It is the only way that these people will realise that they are no longer ‘ra peepul’ not only in the wider footballing world but now even in Scotland. Dog fouling is illegal and owners are obliged to collect it and dispose of it. Scottish Football’s governing bodies, club chairmen and decent football supporters should take heed and dispose of the foulest excrement to litter this country.

If a new team emerges that has wiped itself, disinfected itself, used deodorant, agreed to wash regularly and remove all taints of any previous clubs, then let it apply, like any other new entity, to join Scottish football, not again but as a new club.

Like any new club in the past, it should apply for the bottom position then, if accepted and it has learned and abides by the rules of fair competition, it can start the process of climbing the ladders of promotion.

This is a sanction I might consider FAIR though my personal option would simply be OBLITERATION. But then I just may be a wee bitty BIASED.

Perfect punishment would be to make them split their home gates with all of the other teams in the league for 3 seasons, all the lesser teams would benefit, rangers would be punished financially and Celtic would benefit from not having possible CL cash stolen from them by low down cheating rats.

And every fan could laugh heartily at the problems they brought upon themselves. They would get more bitter and the rage would come out and let everyone (who didn’t already know) see what they are really about and UEFA would hand out more punishment , the cycle would continue as ‘the peepul’ circle the wagons in defiance and eventually they would implode and have no one to blame for their destruction than themselves.

I haven’t commented before but on reading the comments about contacting FIFA I felt I could do something pro-active to voice my frustration at the need for the football authorities to secure the integrity of the game in Scotland and have sent my thoughts to FIFA.

I’m writing here because I think that this is an opportunity for all supporters of the game in Scotland to let FIFA know how they feel. I’ve just read the article by the Dunfermline supporter on Paul McConville site and supporters need to unite to save the game from the power brokers who only see us as customers and cash cows.

It’s great to hear the views of supporters of clubs other than the old firm.

I’m heartened to hear comments from supporters of other clubs on here. It is becoming obvious that Scottish football supporters up and down the length of Scotland are sick to the back teeth of the SFA and SPL trying to bend over backwards to accommodate a dirty lousy arrogant cheating cess-pit of an excuse for a football club and are poised to make or break with Scottish football depending on the outcome of the Cheats F.C verdicts. My home teamis in the Second Division but I will not be attending any home games EVER if Cheats F.C are not dealt with appropriately…nae severely for All of their shenanigans!

  • martin kennea says:

If the cheats are not properly punished( which they wont be)then i wont have any more interest in scottish football. And i am sure there will be many more who feel like me.They have had total disregard for all clubs since day one. WHEN they newco, they will have the exact same attitude as they have now. they have no integrity, none what so ever.On another point isnt it strange how quiet fat sal has gone ?
