Neil Lennon newsJohn Hartson has no worries about Neil Lennon being tempted away from Celtic.

Reports of a move to Norwich turned out to be a 24 hour wonder with Paul Lambert still officially the manager at Carrow Road despite handing in his resignation.

Hartson and Lennon arrived within at Celtic within eight months of each other and won titles under Martin O’Neill and Gordon Strachan.

Lennon has added his name to that roll of honour by winning the 2012 SPL title with his former team-mate convinced that the Irishman will be lifting trophies for a few more seasons.

He has an inner stubbornness and strength I’ve only seen in a few people,” the Welshman told The Sun. “He loves the Celtic fans and he fights their corner at every opportunity he gets and in return they see Neil as one of their own, much like they did with Martin O’Neill.

“But I don’t think even they would’ve blamed him if he’d wanted to leave. Norwich is a fantastic club and Paul Lambert has laid down a great foundation there.

“To establish them as a Premier League club after two promotions was an incredible feat.

“It’s also a nice place to live and with a bit less hassle than you get in the West End of Glasgow!

“I can totally understand why he wants to stay where he is. Neil is the manager of Celtic, he’s living his boyhood dream right now.

“They are the SPL champs, he has got them playing the way he wants them to and I still think there is a lot of unfinished business for him to attend to at Parkhead.

“He will want to retain the title, no matter what position Rangers find themselves in. He’ll also want to make a mark on Europe although that may have to be in the Europa League.

“To make the last 32 of the Champions League they would have to add five quality players but a good run in the Europa League would increase the club’s standing on the continent.

“So there is plenty more for him to do. Don’t forget, Neil has only just finished his second full season as a full-time boss. Lambo has been a manager for seven years now and Brendan Rogers for over four. So Lenny has lots of time to go on and prove he can be a top-class manager.

“Right now the Celtic manager’s job is one of the best in the world. My view is Neil will be happy to be linked with other clubs but that’s as far as it will go.

“When you are a player it boosts your ego when you hear other clubs are keeping an eye on you. It’s the same for a manager. It shows you’re doing your job the right way. But he’s a loyal guy and I am not surprised he is staying.”

Malky Mackay is the bookies favourite for the Norwich job but recently signed a new three year contract for the Welsh side. Brighton’s Gus Poyet and Chris Hughton of Birmingham have also been backed.

No offence to big Johnny Hartson, but I would hardly say Lenny has unfinished business. He’s only just starting! You’d think he’d been here for years and had squandered millions of missed opportunities. He’d won 1 out of 2 leagues. He missed out on 1 treble that was there for the taking. There’s much more to come before he can say he has unfinished business. This is only the beginning…
