Ibrox exodus continues

Ibrox ParkThe Ibrox exodus is underway with Sone Aluko joining Rhys McCabe in refusing to have his contract transferred to Charlie Green’s Sevco 5088.

Aluko joined Rangers on a short term deal in November after paying Aberdeen his own compensation fee.

His departure was expected with his contract expiring next week but confirmation represents another snub to the newclub.

Whether Green actually wants players to transfer their contracts to a club with no sponsors, no league or association to play under and no banking facilities is unclear.

Last season with no European income of any note coming in Craig Whyte claimed that there was a £10m deficit in Rangers accounts.

While Aluko wasn’t a high earner his departure followed by the bulk of the first team squad, except Lee McCulloch, could give Green the chance to restart a club with a realistic cost base and operating in the same environment as others of expenditure matching income.

Former Rangers director Dave King held talks with Green last week and was dismayed to discover that the former Sheffield United chief intended running the newclub along business lines after years of being propped up by David Murray’s flailing business empire and questionable tax schemes.

Aluko’s departure is likely to be one of the more straightforward moves with Green’s confrontational management style already concerning the players union the SPFA.

Servco are hoping to begin pre-season training on Thursday but with no meaningful negotiations with the SPFA over contracts June 28 looks like being another eventful day in the Rangers crisis.

Thursday is also pay day but with Rangers in liquidation and doubts over the status of Servo the problems are certain to continue piling up for Green and his mysterious backers.

They’ll be starting the season with only elbows in their line up and that’s if they have a league to play in the cheating tax dodging scum.

I’m quite certain Newco Sevco 5088 haven’t signed ANY players yet!

The news should be more apt when we are told if Sevco 5088 actually manages to sign any player rather than a story of players walking away.

After all, the old Rangers FC no longer exists so all the players they had playing for them last season are now effectively free agents. If the ex Rangers players want to play for Green’s Sevco 5088 then they have to sign a new contract.

I would imagine the wages on offer will be a lot less than the wages they were previously on.

Any players who DO agree to cross will have their old wages matched (Until Green gets them frozen out and desperate for a transfer) worse still they will be on a decent win bonus which will still apply in Division 3 where it might be a wee bit easier to win.

You would have to question the ambition / ability of anyone who does remain. As free agents any semi-decent agent would surely find them a better club, more wages, signing on fee etc. No place for young players as the pressure will definitely be on from the off to get promoted THREE times. A poor start and whatever loyal fans still with them will quickly turn on the players, manager & Green !!

Although personally I don’t see Green lasting until Xmas…another administration will see them hit with another points deduction making things really bleak. 18-19 y.o. players will be fine for 6-10 games but will lose form and struggle even against lower quality old pro’s. Hope Willie Pullar & Greig can get the 6 inch nails removed from their old boots…might need to get some leg ends to bail them out….in lieu of paying back EBT’s.

They are some club for chasing people away.
Or should i say they have a lot of people that do that thing, whats it called, walking away, thats it.:)

On another note are the Club formerly called named Prince now officially called Sevco 5088?

  • Paulo says:

    They deserve all they get.

  • Aldo says:

If they’d kept Aluko I’d have fancied them pushing Arthurlie for the Junior title next season but with him away it might be a bit tougher

  • dombhoy67 says:

Let’s be clear here. None of the players have left Rangers…Rangers left them…Rangers are dead.
Sevco f.c are a nothing club with nothing players and nothing money and will very soon in all probability go into Administration and will be liquidated just like the old dead Cheat’s F.C.
