Sevco chairman Malcolm Murray has apologised to Scottish football for the difficulties created by the liquidation of Rangers.

SPL clubs look certain to reject an application from Sevco to join the division when they meet at Hampden tomorrow with the new club likely to be forced to apply to the SFL for a place.

The doom-mongers have been out in force predicting the demise of Scottish football if Sevco are forced to start at the bottom of the SFL with Murray hoping that his apology will soften the opposition to the club being given a promoted spot.

He told Rangers tv:  “The last few months have been extremely difficult for everyone at Rangers – staff, players and, most importantly, the supporters of the club who have been magnificent in the face of adversity.

“That said, all of us within the Rangers family are acutely aware that events at our club, brought about by people who are no longer here, have triggered a crisis in Scottish football.

“Ally McCoist, the staff and players have nothing to apologise for but the club needs to make an apology. It is only right that someone at Rangers expresses our sorrow and regret.

“On behalf of the new board of directors, I apologise unreservedly to all for the distress, disruption and difficulty inflicted on the football community, caused entirely by the actions of people who failed miserably to act responsibly during their stewardship of Rangers.

“All of Scottish football is now having to live with the consequences of that behaviour and every true Rangers fan will consider it a matter of deep regret that events at our club in the past have been the root cause of an extremely difficult time for Scottish football.

“The people who are now running Rangers Football Club want the club to move forward but we cannot do so until we have recognised how damaging to football the crisis at our club has been.

“We want to rebuild Rangers but we also want to ensure the club plays a role that is beneficial to Scottish football, the Scottish economy and Scottish life in general.”

SFL clubs are meeting at Hampden today to discuss proposals to create a First Division place for Sevco.

If u are truly so contrite, hand back all the ill-gotten trophies, even if not to be redistributed to runners-up but to have the tournaments declared null&void that ye cheated in

The statement on their website makes a startling contrast. Apparently the new regime has nothing to apologise about. Oh yeah? This is the newco that is buying the assets of the oldco at a fraction of their true value while leaving the oldco’s creditors with diddly squat. The decent thing is to sell the assets at market value and pay your debts. Meanwhile, newco is offering to pay off the football debts of the oldco. More than a hint of bribery there with a couple of crucial votes imminent and a slap in the face to other businesses affected. Footballers’ brains may generally be in their feet, but Green’s attempts to baffle them with his interpretation of TUPE were obscene. The SFA demands 3 years of audited accounts for membership. There should be no shortcuts for this mob. See you – maybe – towards the end of the decade and even that will be too soon.

Apologise and all is forgiven, welcome into the SPL or at worst the SPL Div.1, you can’t sign anyone due to no money so you’ll take your lumps and then???? guess what??? don’t worry next season you’ll be playing most assuredly in the SPL proper, and you know what else? you’ll have no debt! wow, you can sign some of the best players available while all these nutters who paid their debts to other football clubs and even, if you can believe it, the HMRC, ( you’re Lizzies team aren’t you?) struggle to balance their books, I know it’s brilliant isn’t it, you needn’t even worry if this all happens again, you’ll have set a precedent, and to ensure this all comes to pass, you have Doncaster, Reagan and Ogilve in your corner pulling strings, hell a European cup final in 4 years is entirely possible.

But if none of this happens you can all gather in covens to brew concoctions that every single one of those who voted against you suffers the most heinous of torture

    AYE RIGHT! get tae fek

What a shower of scum, it actually makes them look worse that its the days before the vote that they choose to issue a pathetic apology.

They are filth and they are panicking big time, heres a thought for them and this can put things right, pay back every debt the shame owe, every penny, pay back every win bonus you ever cheated, every penny of revenue other teams have lost through your cheating, agree to void every title and cup ever cheated. Then issue a grovelling apology to every team and fan in Scotland.

Then you can ask for forgivness. Until then go away and die, nobody wants you, nobody cares get that through your heads, go away and die, and let us get on with a future without you
