Derek Riordan has been offered a return to the SPL by Ross County.
The striker spent two unhappy seasons at Celtic under Gordon Strachan before returning to Hibs in September 2008.
The 29-year-old moved to Chinese side Shaanxi Chan-Ba a year ago but that proved short lived after he fell out with the coach and return to Scotland.
Riordan signed a short term deal at St Johnstone last season with Ross County hoping that they can entice him back to the SPL.
Manager Derek Adams admitted: “We are interested in Derek Riordan and have spoken both to his agent and to him. I don’t think we can afford him in terms of wages.
“He would have to come here with a desire to play and get himself back in the shop window. He would probably need to take a sacrifice, wage-wise, to come here. I think it would be a great platform for the player himself, as well as a very good signing for us. We can only talk.”
Celtic make their first ever SPL visit to Dingwall tomorrow with Neil Lennon wary of the fixture and the opportunity of an upset.
The Celtic boss said: “They are a very proud club. They are creating their own identity in the SPL and will see us as a big scalp to take, if they do that they’ll know they’ve arrived in the SPL.
“We played them in the League Cup last year and coped quite well but they are unbeaten in 36 league games which speaks volumes for them.”

All about attitude and ensuring we play the game at our pace. They can’t outplay us and they most certainly should not be outworking us. Get the basics right and we control the game from the off keep them on the back foot and they will drop.
The game will be won in the dressing room ensuring we go out with the proper mindset and not allow them any time / space on the ball. Force the mistakes out of them all over the park.
Drive at them from midfield and we should win comfortably.
Dont see this being an issue…. 3 1 Rogne to score am og lol
