Fraser Forster Celtic newsFraser Forster has sent his best wishes to England pal John Ruddy who faces three months on the sidelines with a torn thigh muscle.

The Celtic keeper gave a flawless performance in last night’s 4-0 win over Hearts and would be many fans choice for man-of-the-match.

Whatever Hearts attempted Forster was the equal with a superb double save in the first half followed up by an 88th minute penalty save from Marius Zaliukas.

Ruddy has an injury that you will be familiar with if you bet on NFL football.

Forster and Ruddy are challenging Joe Hart for the England jersey with the Celtic keeper hoping that the Norwich man makes a speedy recovery.

It’s fantastic to be involved with England, but you only get involved by doing well for your club and it’s important over the next few months that I keep playing well for Celtic,” the Geordie explained.

“I need to keep improving and playing well and hopefully, when the internationals come round again in February, I’ll still be knocking on the door.

“Possibly John’s injury will help me. but I’m disappointed for John. He’s a fantastic keeper and a great guy as well. It’s obviously disappointing for him. You’d never wish that on a colleague. Hopefully he has a speedy recovery and comes back fitter and stronger.”

Despite another outstanding performance against Hearts Forster deflected attention from himself towards the team.

We started well and that set the tone for the game,” the keeper added. “I made a few saves, but it was for the team. It’s important we keep clean sheets and score goals as well.

“I’m glad we scored a few and we probably could have scored a few more. I think we had a bit of a European hangover before the Inverness game.

“That’s been said a few times, but you simply can’t afford to drop points at home and we all knew Saturday’s performance was unacceptable.

“The gaffer had asked for a reaction from us and that is what he got.”

In my opinion theres not another keeper in scotland who could have made those saves! Even te penalty was well struck & away from the keeper he just went the correct way the double save and the other save from the free kick (where kayal jumped over the ball) were just out of this world
