Green slams SPL witch hunt

Charles Green newsCharles Green has repeated his claim that he’ll not having any dealings with the SPL as he cranks up his attempts to sell his share issue.

The Ibrox chief claimed that there was a witch-hunt against his club and that he ought to have been swamped with apologies following the split verdict in favour of oldco Rangers at the First Tier Tax Tribunal.

In the friendly atmosphere of the studios of Scotland Tonight the Sevco chief slipped easily away from questions about the new clubs existing shareholders and £9m of stadium expenditure.

Rallying to favoured topics like the treatment of the club during the summer and an SPL investigation into undeclared payments Green claimed that ‘e ‘ad bought the ‘istory and trophies in the £5.5m deal that included Ibrox and Murray Park.

Asked about the wisdom of asking supporters to find money in the fortnight before Christmas Green said: “The reason that it’s now, if you analyse the reports and interviews that I made in May I said to the Rangers fans that I would list it this year. I will give fans the chance to buy the shares this year.

“If I was doing it for my own self interest then I’d do it in another years time when Rangers was more valuable which would make it more expensive for fans.

“It’s not about Charles Green, it’s about Rangers, it’s about the club it’s about the fans and that’s why we’re doing it now cause I always keep my promises.”

He added: “We’ve already taken £17m from institutional investors, we’ve put an allocation across for fans and if the fans didn’t take them we’ll give them back to the institutions. We were oversubscribed. People applied for shares and we only gave them an allocation.

“From our part we know that there is strong interest out there, I’ve said before and I’ll say it today if no-one else buys them I’ll buy them all myself. But the reality is that we want Rangers not to ‘eld by one single individual. What we will get is again another fulfilment of a Charles Green promise that no-one will own more than 10% of Rangers.”

Turning to the £9m stadium investment mentioned in the prospectus the former Sheffield United chief said: “Well there’s many things that need to be done around Ibrox, fans will know that it’s a fantastic stadium but in the last couple of years there ‘asn’t been free cash to invest in essential maintenance and repairs.

“What I want to do is spend a few million doing the repairs that come through neglect. There are lots of things I want to do, we’re going to build some more bars, more facilities, better catering to make the fan experience much better.”

Going on to his hostility towards the SPL he got fully into his stride Green said: “I’ve said consistently that I will not put my ‘and up to take Rangers back into the SPL while they continue with this witch ‘unt to withdraw titles.

“We saw last week the tax tribunal come out in our favour and yet my office should be awash with apologies- I ‘aven’t received one, I’m just assuming that the Christmas mail has been the delay.

“The reality is ‘y would we go back to a league where we are not welcome and ‘o want to consistently penalise us and strip titles.

“Titles won’t leave while I’m there because I bought them, I own them, their part of the ‘istory and they will stay there.”

The SFA have still to make any comment on Green’s refusal to take tickets for the Scottish Cup tie with Dundee United.

In a club statement Green said: “Everyone at this club is dismayed at the actions of certain SPL clubs, which were actively engaged in trying to harm Rangers when we were in a perilous situation and we are acutely aware of their attitude to us.

Ahhahahahahaha how embarrassing is that guy! He bought titles and history? Wahahahahahahahaha. Aw man, this is too much…

  • Chris says:

Who cares charles? Just who the hell cares? Everybody already knows ur an arrogant fanny, theres no need to keep shouting it from the rooftops

  • jebus says:

he is right though, his new club have never had anything to do with the spl, so tittle stipping is nothing to do with him or his new club!

    • barcabuster says:

Your right Jebus. It has nothing to do with him! However, if Chuckles bought a car in good faith from a garage forecourt, which subsequently turned out to be stolen, he would have to return it and be out of pocket. A loss he would need to pursue the vendor for.

” A CHARLES GREEN PROMISE ” nearly pissed myself laughing the guys a joke the zombies are welcome to him match made in hell HH

  • barcabuster says:

Sorry Jebus bud, something came up there, and I posted before I had finished. Chuckles is wrong on so many points. Why did he buy the titles in the first place? If Oldco are not deid, as he suggests, then surely they still own the titles and there would be no need. Secondly, It is impossible to buy or sell titles! He could buy the cup or shield it was etched on, but that is a different matter. What is there to prevent Celtic buying a couple of “big cup” titles from Barca, Orr trawling the archives and buying titles from a financially embarrassed club in Scotland? It simply cannot be done! He should be forced by the SFA to shut it, and concern himself only with running his diddy wee club. To let him away with trading on the back of oldco is shameful, inflammatory, and probably illegal. So yes Jebus. I agree it has sfa to do with him

So true about empty vessels making the most noise…..For Scottish Footballs sake the sooner this oaf is booted out the better. Quite how he passed any fit & proper test is beyond me, says more about the SFA rulings though.

He will be away before the outcome of the LNS enquiry, the PFA claim and the BTC outcome being finally settled….If his pockets are bulging, then it won’t be OUR money, so who cares.

We should completely ignore the halfwit, let justice take it’s course and concentrate our ire on those who have led our game into such a mire
Ogilvie – Doncaster & Reagan should be LONG GONE, while we laugh / complain about a twat who is irrelevant in anything he says or does.

Let Sevco fans deal with Chico, his lies will be his undoing….what happened to the £ 30m he was going to deposit last July….now it’s give us your money PRONTO….Obviously the heat in the kitchen is getting turned right up.

barca i think its clear the sfa are running scared of chucky. i can only assume its because he has something on them that would make their positions untenable. when i say them i mean regan and oglvie. why else did he and the pie man get away with the shocking tirades against them.

i can only imagine if lawwell or lenny came out with this stuff.

still believe we need to get out of this league as soon as possible, its only a matter of time before they are back in the top flight getting decisions from referees and acting with even greater impunity. Also the blueprint has now been written (pardon the pun), they can spend spend spend go into liquidation ‘buy the assets and history’ and go again.

    • barcabuster says:

Scott, I can easily believe that Green has something on the leading ladies in this saga. After all, he has intimate knowledge of the inner workings of oldco and their practises. Personally I don’t think any league restructure should take place with these self-serving clowns at the helm. In fact, I don’t think any of them should be trusted with any decision making! Until the entire governing structure is disbanded it is farting against thunder.

A committee of respected managers should be at the top.. Who know how to implement youth developement. The business/legal dept should be below them to put their ideas into practise. It is quality of games, competitiveness, flair and passion which makes the game wealthy, and a selling team(as all Scottish clubs are), will not be a winning team for long.

It will be an improvement on the pitch, which brings these things, not jumbling up the order of play! I can honestly see the likes of Sir Alex, Strachan etc (I am open to suggestions on choice) being at the helm, and the legal/business teams being at their command. Then we can genuinely move forward in the right manner. Until we lose the besieged “salary protectors”, nothing will change.

  • Gerry says:
