Sevco u-turn as they attend SPL dual contract commission

|

SPL Celtic newsDespite promising not to participate in the SPL enquiry into dual contracts at the now liquidated Rangers Football Club the The Rangers appeared before Lord Nimmo Smith’s independent commission.

James Mure QC represented both clubs at the commission which finished today after three days of hearing evidence related to the failure of Rangers to fully register payments to players with the SPL and SFA.

A statement from the SPL read: “The Independent Commission chaired by Rt Hon Lord Nimmo Smith, sitting with Nicholas Stewart QC and Charles Flint QC, to determine issues concerning EBT payments and arrangements at RFC 2012 PLC (in liquidation) (formerly The Rangers Football Club Plc) (“Oldco”) and Rangers Football Club, heard evidence and submissions at a hearing on 29, 30 & 31 January 2013.

Parties before the commission were: The Scottish Premier League Limited, represented by Mr. Rod McKenzie of Harper MacLeod; and Oldco, represented by Mr. James Mure QC, instructed by Mr Michael McLaughlin of DWF Biggart Baillie.

Mr Mure QC also on 31 January represented Rangers Football Club and The Rangers Football Club Ltd (“Newco”) in regard to submissions on any possible sanction which might apply in the event that any breach was established.

The Commission has reserved judgement and will issue a full written decision in due course. Until that decision is issued no further comment will be made.”

In June the SPL stated that there was a prima facie case for Rangers to answer explaining that the delay in having a commission was caused by the lack of co-operation from the club.

If it is found that Rangers fielded ineligible players under normal circumstances the offending club would expect results for matches in which those players featured to be altered to 3-0 defeats.

The SPL have a range of 18 possible sanctions but may follow the example set by the SFA last year when they ignored the available sanctions, which included expulsion or suspension, to come up with a lesser punishment following the club’s failure to pay Income Tax and National Insurance while finishing second in the SPL.

We all know they are guilty, just announce the decision! If they are found not guilty,we Celtic need to get the out! I’m totally sick of these zombies!

    • Kendo88 says:

Here here monti. I can’t wait for PLs views on the outcome! Anything less than wiping those trophies from the record books and terming them as VOID then Lawwell has got to appeal to Platini as a member club of Uefa to find us a fair and equal association for us to play our football. Our great club must flourish away from this corrupt stinking hole of a place! HH

      • Monti says:

It’s never going to get better kendo (unless a guilty verdict is returned),it’s up to this generation to fight against the machine! Fought huns all my life & still up for it. We have to do it for our children & their future. GBTP!

        • Kendo88 says:

I know monti this place wont change after all it’s their country. And they can have it. Always stood up to the zombies and triumphed in adversity but now have an indifference towards them..totally irrelevant!! time for us to move on and to pastures new. Peter and Desmond got to make it happen. CFCLCO

  • Thomas says:

I await some guilt found, small fine, close door game yadayadda!
    SFA/Sevco, same old same old……

  • KevinBarry says:

The sfa will again choose to ignore any sanctions ‘for the good of the game’ or some pish. They’ll probably be found not guilty tho! Not sure how but nothing surprises me anymore.

  • Bertie says:

    Charles ‘Walter Mitty’ Green.

  • barcabuster says:

I think the Zombies expecting a “guilty”. If they neverappeared, they have no right to appeal! The fact they did says a lot. Off topic, but really pissed off with Norwich. They opened the bidding at a Sevco, I think it is now up to a sevco and a hauf! Don’t they realise it will take 2 Sevcos at least!

Green talks Craig whyte H H

  • williebhoy says:

Can’t understand why anyone would be representing Newco….they have absolutely nothing to do with the Dual contracts fiasco. Thew new club are not responsible for anything that LNS deems payable etc.

The act of stripping titles / cups etc is a matter of course in following the rules. Again nothing to do with Newco. If they wish to be recognised as the now defunct club, then any such financial penalties should be met by whoever is paying their representative.

    • KevinBarry says:

Been saying the same thing for months mate

    • hancock says:

concerns newco due to the fact they agreed to pay all football debts to get their dodgy license. If found guilty all prize money has to get returned. We all know their guilty as sin but as with a previous post …… they’ll get off with it .. nothing to see here move on , get back to being paranoid

  • Andybhoy says:

Let the whitewash commence! Not enough evidence to prove guilt blah blah blah. There are too many people within both the game and the media in this country fighting their corner and the rest are too fearful to take a stand.

We as a club need to get the hell out from under the governance of these people because there is no such thing as ‘without fear or favour’ when it comes to dealing with whatever club is playing out of ibrox.

    Hail Hail.

  • neil says:

They will get off with it cos Nimmo is one of the brethren, they are all inbreeds and look after one another.
verdict….a big boy did it and ran away!!

    • Ken Dunsmuir says:

Course they’ll get away with it. But I’d like them to explain. If its just a loan, when is the loan going to be repaid? The 12th of never I’d guess.

      • KevinBarry says:

It’s not the loan that’s against the rules. It’s the undeclared payments and side contracts which breaches sfa rules.

  • Bertie says:

“Rangers ‘Stanley’ Fletcher. You have been found guilty of…”

  • Buffythecat says:

The rules must be applied. If they are not we (Scottish football supporters) need to discuss what we can and will do about it. We have already been far too lenient with allowing a new club Sevco 5088 to break the rules and enter the Third Division without three years of accounts. This verdict, if it is a whitewash, must be made an example of to the whole world as evidence of how corrupt and toxic is the Scottish game to Fifa, UEFA and everyone who will listen.
However, maybe justice will prevail and take its course. If it does we maybe really are in for a change for the better. We’ll see!

  • Monti says:

If they (zombies) are found guilty, I want us & all the other clubs cheated by these inbred rats,to claim financial compensation, lost prize money, every penny!

Sadly I have no trust in the judicial process in this country! I mean our manager gets attacked in front of thousands of people, live on t.v.and escapes jail ffs!

I remember getting arrested at the bigot dome for trying to get in without a ticket, during the booking in process, you know, scarf, laces, watch, much to my delight Celtic scored & I had a big smile on my face, strathclyde officer turned to me and said ” you won’t be laughing long ya papish bastard” Mmm this was my first taste of Glasgow police! I don’t trust anything in Scotland & especially someone who wears a wig!!

  • Monti says:

If the Zombies are not heavily sanctioned, titles & cups stripped, this will end my interest in Scottish football, the refs are a fucking disgrace with their cheating and lying, the police are picking on the Celtic away support, being treated like animals. Huns in charge of the game, nothing will change ever,Celtic need out & let the scum do what they like!

  • HoopNo7 says:

me thinks a public stoning, a bit strong?!

  • Ciaran says:

If they are found guilty of dual contracts, but with little or no sanctions, then a president is set. Celtic should make it clear and public that they will be paying their players and management in a similar style. If this method is legal, how much could Man City, for example, save? If it is acceptable to pay players this way, everyone will do it. Players can get paid more and the only losers will be the health service, schools and public services.

    • Liamcfc says:

      You’ve missed the point.

      • Ciaran says:

I don’t believe I have missed the point. I know what sanctions are prescribed for improper registration of players. Expulsion, repayment of prize monies and fines. I just don’t believe they will be properly punished for their crimes.
The FTT(T) admitted they used an “aggressive tax avoidance” scheme, but still believed that all their professional footballers received loans instead of wages! They celebrated the “victory”. They will do so if titles are not stripped.
If Rangers are found guilty of widespread, systematic cheating over a decade, and do not lose a single Cup,it will be painted as a victory.
The paintwork will be done by their friends in the MSM.
No other club could dream of such assistance and propaganda.

  • mark says:

Monti’s a bigot FACT…… LOL hail hail your banning order is on the way Mr lawwell is against bigotry

  • Sevco will be found not guilty and they will be find???! I don’t trust anything or the Scottish brethren all for one one for all

  • Still can not see my comments

  • williebhoy says:

I think justice will HAVE to be seen to be done, so many other Scottish clubs have been heavily dealt with due to in some cases very minor offences. So to illegally register dozens of players over a 10+ year period should be reflected in the sanctions imposed.

What I can’t accept is the names so far in the public domain being to the TOTAL players / management who received such deals. Surely such as Porrini – Thern – Negri – Gattuso – Amato – Van Bronkhurst – Prodan – hendry – Guivarch – Reyna – Tugay – Arveladze – Mladenovik – Sebo – Clement – Cousin – Bougherra – Edu would have been offered similar deals to minnows like Nieto. It beggars belief that they wouldn’t…similarly Watty while Feckless, Pepe Le Goon & Dick head coach all had non re-payable loans !!

While a lot of paperwork was shredded, I’d think Murray & Bain’s would have been first. Maybe crook Whyte grabbed some back-up. A lot still to surface yet I think.

Scottish Football has ONE final chance to ensure they make all fans / clubs aware that the game is clean. Failure is not an option or the game is over.

    • Monti says:

Absolutely this is THE only chance to deal with these dirty cheating noel hunts, when they return to the top division it will be the same songs about killing Catholics, singing songs celebrating famine,Irish players being told to go home, same tired, tired fkn shite.last minute penalty awards for dives, opposition players being sent off for nothing, police making 1 arrest at the rat pit for singing sectarian songs, even though 40,000 are singing the same song?? Meanwhile the SFA compliance officer didn’t hear anything untoward & the justice minister will praise the ‘atmosphere’ Celtic will continue to be denied clear penalties, we will (correctly) moan about this, the maso,I mean refs will strike, while a source from Ibrox will support the quality of referees in Scotland! All of this strengthens my resolve as a proud Catholic & loud about it, an admirer of the Irish people & Celtic f.c.! Celtic first & Celtic last & Celtic overall!HH

I worry that Green sending representation to the hearing is telling. Looks like he has a nod, a wink and a dodgy handshake.

  • Willie Collum says:

Just to let you sellik fans know that I overheard a discussion at the Lodge meeting the night that the other members of the Orange Order have promised a fair unbiased opinion in relation to this case.

Although it will no be made public for a wee while yet, it has been decreed that The Rangers will be punished by only allowing every other foul and harsh tackle to be allowed over the next few seasons. No longer will every poorly missed kick or manhandling of the ref be blamed on the sellik, only 99%. Instead of turning a blind eye to The Rangers cheating tactics it will now be mentioned over the half time cup of tea and a wee bun in the ref room and in some cases a player will be given the wink and a wee word in his ear.

    Punishment enough in itsel eh?
