SFL chief Longmuir confirms his Rangers background

|

David Longmuir SFL newsScottish Football League chief executive David Longmuir has confirmed that he comes from a family of Rangers fans.

While stopping short of confirming his own allegiance Longmuir has gone to the unusual step of giving an interview to an associate member website expressing his understanding of the club’s anger over reconstruction of the league set-up.

In May SFL President Jim Ballantyne of Airdrie was pictured at the Linfioeld v Rangers fund raiser wearing a badge of the Rangers Fans Fighting Fund.

I can understand Rangers fans being unhappy with the prospect that Rangers could win SFL 3 and not be promoted,” he told Rangers tv.

“I am surrounded by Rangers fans at home so I know their feelings. I know where they are coming from but if we can put something sensible together then hopefully that issue will not arise.”

Despite the threats to quit Scotland and join the Conference Longmuir felt the need to explain the SFL stance on reconstruction of the Scottish game which would see a 12-12-18 set up emerge under one league body.

Green has already attacked the architects of that plan claiming that his club should have been consulted even though they have been given special concessions to play in the SFL this season.

Longmuir added: “There is no done deal with the SPL and one of the things that Rangers fans will be interested to know is that I have never agreed to anything with the SPL or the SFA regarding league reconstruction.

“What I have agreed to do is take the proposal and look at it on its merits and present it to the clubs.

“As has been the track record, sense will come to the fore and I think we will get that tomorrow.

“I think we’re pleased that there seems to be some new found unanimity among the SPL clubs and it’s because of that opportunity we feel we have a number of things we can bring to improve the game.

“If you go back to my original proposal I was a key proponent of a larger top league but I do understand that this would mean fewer games and take finance out of the game.

“So what’s the best thing we can achieve at this moment including the big items such as one league body?”

SFA President Campbell Ogilvie is a former Rangers director while former Rangers player and director of football Gordon Smith was the chief executive of the SFA prior to the appointment of Stewart Regan.

There’s always a hidden agenda when these guys say anything.

Maybe in this case, he’s just trying to smooth the waters with his fellow orcs before they lose their tainted titles? I hope so.

its just so there doesn’t be any pipe bombs or the like coming to his house

What can’t they understand…Lance Armstrong FC will be promoted from Division 3 (Effectively 4th tier) to National League 3 (3rd tier 🙂 )

Can’t see any reason for complaint from the Lance Armstrong FC…Celtic will also be playing the same clubs again next season more or less – are we complaining ?

What I want to know is when the SPL / SFL combine who will be in the main seats of power. Then we should also be re-organzing the shambles that is the SFA….league reconsturction is merely a side show, irrelevant as n matter how we shuffle the pack it will still be the same teams.

I can’t believe that someone in the Hierarchy of Scottish Football has a connection to the Govan Club…
I’ve always thought that the Office Bearers in our National Game were strictly neutral with no club leanings or preferences…
Are you absolutely sure this is correct….?
    I’m stunned…..
PS: He looks like a hun right enough….

Its how he (Longmuir) got the job in the first place! Its how they ALL ( Farry, Smith, Smith, Dallas, Ogilvie, Ballantyne et al,) got their jobs in the first place; their corrupt Sevco leanings.

What you won’t get is ANYONE coming out and admitting their Celtic leanings because they wouldn’t get anywhere near the SFA/SFL in the first place having been well vetted for such Unacceptable connections.

We need to wipe the boards clean away with this corruption it stinks to the high heavens.

  • It will always be the same in Scotland it will never change never

If they’d applied the rules in the first place Sevco wouldn’t exist.
So I fully expect more rule breaking.
Only reconstruction I want is the removal of these sevcominded sycophants.
