Ki Sung Yeung Celtic newsKi Sung-Yueng was a Wembley winner for Swansea- at centre half!

The South Korean left Celtic in the summer in a £6m deal and has quickly settled in at the Welsh side managed impressively by Michael Laudrup.

League Two giant killers Bradford City were swept away in a 5-0 stroll with Ki adding a Capital One Cup winners medal to the SPL and Scottish Cup winners medals he collected at Celtic.

“I haven’t played there much before but I was happy to do something for the team,” the midfielder turned centre half said.

“It is great for the club to be in Europe. I have played there for Celtic and every player enjoys a new experience playing different clubs.

“It is a chance for everyone and reward for all the players and the fans, who have been amazing, amazing.

“You don’t get many chances as a player to play in front of 82,000 fans.

“It is the first time we have won a major trophy, it is very meaningful for me, for all the players and for the fans because they always support us well, wherever we play.

“This group of players just gets stronger and it has done that through this cup competition.

“Everyone is working hard and we have had more belief with every game, beating Liverpool, then Middlesbrough then Chelsea in the semi-finals. We will enjoy this.”

Ki made 82 appearances for Celtic after signing during Tony Mowbray’s regime and is best remembered for the thundering shot that opened the scoring against Motherwell in the 2010 Scottish Cup Final.

  • Well done Ki – happy for you m8. You were a class act on your day and your passing was going to be noticed around Europe. On-wards and upwards and the next move maybe bigger again – another windfall for the Hoops no doubt! 😉 HH
