Kayal looks to kick on

|

kayal juveBeram Kayal is hoping that his performance against Juventus can kick start his season.

The Israeli has had a patchy season struggling to hold onto a regular place in the Celtic midfield due to the form of Victor Wanyama, Scott Brown, Joe Ledley and others.

Kayal was one of Neil Lennon’s first signings and wants to be a big part of Celtic’s future plans.

“It was a special moment for me to start against Juve,” he admitted. I have worked hard to get back after injury and I’m so happy the manager trusts me and gave me this opportunity to play in a match this big.

“The injuries have stopped my career a bit, but I don’t want to look back. I want to concentrate on the future.

“I am strong and hungry again and I want to compete in my career at Celtic and help them win more leagues and cups.

“Every player has to be hungry. You always have to show a big heart for the club in every game and I think we did that against Juve.”

Kayal picked up the number 21 jersey of Andre Pirlo at the final whistle and admits that the legendary midfielder is one of his heroes.

He added: “It was a good moment to get this from such a player. The people at home say I am the Pirlo of Arab football.

“That’s why this jersey will be going up on my wall and will bring inspiration to me for the future.”

Nowhere near the player he was initially, I’d be more than happy to move him on. Doesn’t bring the authority that such as Wanyama offers we can find someone better and less wages

Hopefully he gets back to his best now.

Willie think ur being but harsh on him. Kayal is a top performer and can only use the games he plays to show that. If and when wanyama leaves you’ll see him back to his best with more game time. Look at his performances when he just signed n tell me then u want him moved on

I think Kayal has been great for us ! He is a far better player than Brown ! Would get rid if Brown before Kayal !

Initially Kayal was the main man in our midfield and started acting like a Prima Donna over getting more money weeks after signing for us, then he got injured and we brought in better players and can’t get in the team so he went in a big sulk and when he does get a chance he rarely shows why he should be a 1st pick.

Kayal had a tremendous first season at Celtic and a lot of the big clubs had him on their radar.
Got a swelled head and started to make sounds of EPL move, then picked up injuries and hey presto faded into the backround. A good player and hope he recovers early form.
