John Kennedy Celtic newsCeltic’s u-20 side can emulate their first-team colleagues by clinching the SPL title against Inverness Caley Thistle today.

Aberdeen’s 1-0 win over Dundee United yesterday means that those two sides can reach 56 points with a Celtic win this afternoon at the Tulloch Stadium taking the young hoops onto 57 points.

Following their break at the Al Ain tournament in Abu Dhabi Celtic beat Dundee convincingly 3-0 on Friday night with John Kennedy hoping that a win today can kick-off a trophy rush.

“It was great for everyone to see the first team clinch the title on Sunday,” he explained. “It’s a great achievement and the next week could be very special for the club.

“We can win the league at Inverness, the u-17’s have the Glasgow Cup Final on Monday and we have the SFA Youth Cup Final at Hampden next Wednesday.

“It’s a massive period for everyone. The first team have given us the lead and the academy sides are looking to do their bit over the next week.

“We can’t just turn up at Inverness and pick up three points to win the league, we have to earn the right for the points and play as we can with the right attitude.

“Sometimes getting over the finishing line is the hardest thing to do. It’s there for us, the ball is in our court but it’ll be tough at Inverness.

“We want to do it as quickly as we can, they are feeling confident after the win over Dundee and everyone is looking forward to trying to clinch the title.

Today’s match kick’s off at 2pm.
