Green Brigade bannerThe Green Brigade will have Celtic Park rocking again on Saturday after an agreement was reached between the supporters group and the football club.

Talks have been going on for a number of weeks following Celtic’s announcement that they would close down the popular Section 111 of the ground due to health and safety concerns by Glasgow City Council. This afternoon an agreement was reached with a club statement expected on Friday.

Matters came to a head following the Celtic v Ross County SPFL match on August 3 when the club announced that the section 111 would have to close.

Two days later  a club statement said: “The safety of all spectators is of paramount importance to Celtic Football Club. Given recent events, we have been left with no option but to take steps to ensure the safety of our supporters. We trust that supporters will recognise that the Club has been placed in an impossible position.

“It is therefore with extreme regret that for safety reasons, the Club has taken the decision to relocate supporters currently sitting within Area 111 of the Stadium, where there have been continued examples of unsafe behaviour. Supporters who do not wish to be relocated may choose to receive a pro rata refund and return their season ticket.”

The issue has been debated fiercely among online Celtic supporters with the majority backing the Green Brigade but not to the extent of putting the club at risk of sanctions from UEFA or the city chiefs.

Earlier today on various support forums it was announced that agreement had been reached with Section 111 open for business on Saturday and for the Champions League qualifier on Wednesday against Shakhter Karagandy.

It’s kind of strange that for a fan base that claims to be the best in the world we feel we need to rely on one section to inspire the players on the pitch, now first off before the hate starts I’ve loved the GB in CP when they behave, the banners displays and noise are a very important part of Celtic but as a support they are no more important than the thousands of others who fill up CP every game and should not be or expect to be treated differently! It’s one rule for all they aren’t excluded I am glad to read they’ll be back but I really hope they can remember they are no more special than the rest of us and need to play by the same rules! Lose the pyro!! Because I’m pretty sure the first time there’s a horrible accident involving a flare or some other firework every Celtic fan will be slamming those responsible! HH

The Green Brigade create some atmosphere. That must inspire players; and that’s what supporters should be doing. If only the fans would sing Celtic songs and leave out the daft add ons that mention Rangers. Forget Rangers, they are gone and gone forever. Sevco look like they might become extinct as well. We should not associate ourselves with them. The MSM will try to use the term ‘Old Firm’ when Celtic do play Sevco (or the next team to play at Ibrox and gain entry to the league without audited accounts) but there is nothing ‘old’ or ‘firm’ about Sevco and we should beware when Sevconians try to fabricate history and tradition. That must be earned. They can’t just claim it and think we are all daft enough to accept it.
