What a difference a month makes- Celtic kicked off January looking laboured, tired and predictable in the 1-0 win over Partick Thistle but looked close to their best in the 4-0 win over Kilmarnock.
James Forrest and Joe Ledley competed for the man-of-the-match with the midfield duo combining for a Barcelona style opening goal with Forrest completing a series of quick passes with a defence splitting ball to the Welshman who rifled the ball home.
Forrest popped up on the other wing in the 18th minute to bamboozle his marker before firing in a near post cross that Lee Ashcroft turned into his own net.
With Kris Commons and Teemu Pukki capable of dropping deep as well as stretching defenders there was a flexibility about the way Celtic played with full-backs Emilio Izaguirre and Darnell Fisher pushing forward at every opportunity.
Charlie Mulgrew hit the woodwork with his effort rebounding into the hands of goalkeeper Craig Sampson but the versatile Celt made amends in the 68th minute with a low shot drilled past the Kilmarnock ‘keeper.
With the points secured Derk Boerrigter, Amido Balde and Stefan Johansen were all introduced with all three substitutes making a contribution with Balde completing the scoring in stoppage time with a weak shot that Sampson won’t enjoy watching again.
After the match Neil Lennon was guarded in his comments about the last two days of the transfer window with speculation rife about movement in and out of the club.
Whether Joe Ledley and/or Georgios Samaras sign new deals will have a major bearing on whether anyone arrives at Celtic with a £1m deal for Leigh Griffiths probably the most likely arrival.
Kris boyd is likely to be signed
Remember who told you first
Haw haw haw
drawkcab,
Stay off that Peruvian brandy !!
It’s doing your head in.Now you are not
making sense.
Boyd wouldn’t even get a game for our
under 20,development team.
Taxi for drawkcab !!
Chortle Chortle Chortle
So where’s the video??
Agree Joe,
Good performance.
The GREEN MEAN MACHINE steamrolls yet
another !!
Only downside,IMO, Pukki is not going to
be a goalscorer for us.3 good chances but
fluffed them all.
Griffiths would have had a hat-trick,if he had been in Pukki’s boots.
I say,bring in Griffiths now !
It looks like we will be stuck with Sami and
Joe.To be fair to Joe,he was excellent last
night.
However,getting a fee for both,would have
been the perfect scenario. As it looks like
both,will run their contracts down.
Final word for big Fraser, great save to keep the clean-sheet record going.Very
impressive.
For christ sake Celtic just pay the 1 million for Griffithis, we have wasted alot more than that on dud foreign strikers under Lennons rien, dud players that hav never set foot in Scotland before, dont know the culture, dont know the tempo of Scottish football, leaving there families and become homesick, so for fek sake buy him he ticks all the boxes Bangura, Lassad and many more never did, or is Lawell going to do a Steven Fletcher scenario AGAIN and remember how that cost us dearly in more ways than one, hail hail, CARLISLES GREEN N WHITE
Keighley Bhoy you are right. Griffiths would be an ideal Celtic player, hail hail
Of topic.
In the car their, I heard on talksport, that
r@ngers were looking to sign Rod FANNI,
from Marseilles.
So I thought that’s strange,as they have
no money.
Then when they said he was a full-back,
it must mean Wallace has been sold.
But,no,they were talking about QPR.
What a pity, could you imagine the fun we
would have, with a FANNI signing for Sevco.
He wouldn’t look out of place, with all the
other FANNIES that are their.
Peter
Fannies bring joy to millions and have a purpose. You do fannies a disservice comparing them to Sevco players. 🙂
Andybhoy,
It was a bit below the belt.
No offence intended re fanny.
You are correct, but as long as they are
in the mood !!
Peter
You are digging a hole for yourself
Haw haw haw
lol.
Emuff of the fanny jokes lads…
pay the money lawell
The bhoys played well last night, especially Ledley and wee Forrest.
I would like to see Ledley sign a new contract as I think he’s a far better player than some people give him credit for.
He may not be the spectacular box to box midfielder or the gifted playmaker that grabs all the headlines but he’s a grafter who allows others the freedom to go forward and chips in with a few goals of his own now and then. All teams need those type of players.
Hail Hail.
