Tom Rogic newsNeil Lennon is open to letting Tom Rogic going out on loan.

The midfielder joined Celtic a year ago from Central Coast Mariners but has found his first team opportunities limited.

Despite that Rogic remains an important part of Australia’s World Cup plans but knows that he must be playing regular football to be sure of his place in the squad for Brazil.

Central Coast Mariners are interested in taking Rogic back on loan with Lennon likely to make a decision after talks with the player in Turkey.

“There might be loan options there and if it’s right we’ll look at it,” the Celtic boss explained.

“Tom Rogic obviously has the World Cup and we have to be mindful of that but for us we need to get him playing football.

“Younger ones should look at the likes of Callum McGregor who has gone and played at Notts County.

“He’s taken a chance and now we can either look at bringing him back or maybe selling him in the future.”

Jackson Ivine’s loan spell with Kilmarnock has been extended till the end of the season while the option to recall Tony Watt from Lierse remains open.

After yesterday’s flight delay Celtic fly out to Turkey today for a week in the sun as well as two matches in the Antalya Cup.

Lennon will use his full squad over the two matches and is keen to get some additional time on the training ground with his summer signings.

While Virgil van Dijk has flourished alongside Efe Ambrose the Celtic boss has still to see any return from Teemu Pukki, Amido Balde and Derk Boerrigter.

Rogic is a bit of a strange one.
I thought he would be a permanent feature this season, after settling in well.
His driving runs from midfield, were a big
    asset.
His stamina does seem suspect.Maybe, as
a result of coming into football late.He is
young and has time on his side.

He should go on loan,as the chance of
missing the world cup is too big.
If he shines,he comes back confident and
    can play his part.
Or he might attract interest, and a good
    transfer fee.

Is this what has come to developing young players just to sell them on to quote Lemmon.
Bring these players on now and stop wasting money on drose.
Surely there must be some young players worth keeping.

Must say am shocked at the comment on McGregor. What is the point of developing players in the youth teams just to sell them on.
Lennoxtown must cost a fortune to run and if we are not using it to bring players on and into the top squad we should close it and simply become a buying club.
It is noticeable that with all the talk of January transfers little mention has been made of promoting or recalling some of the young players.
Here’s a thought we are miles ahead in the league bring back Watt, McGregor and Irvine team them up with Atajic and use them in the first team over the second half of the season.

John, no offence but never herd so much nonsense in a long while. So moving forward we drop brown, mulgrew, and ledley to accomodate these young players.. commons and stokes get dropped, and their places go to Atajic and Balde…… No, i dont think so. Jackson Irvine is doing more than fine where he is, as is McGregor… the whole concept of putting these guys out on loan, is for 19yr old and 20 yr old players to get valuable game time, and experience of competitive football… they will come back to Celtic pre-season and lennon will be the judge of whether they have improved significantly enough to warrant a first team place. Celtic first team is a “Standard”… jerseys have to be earned, not given away like confetti. My idea, is i would love to see Celtic do Partick Thistle a favour, and give them both Atajic and Balde on loan for 2nd half of season… would give both these players a chance to experience and shine in the Scottish premiership. Something both players need. Keep Watt where he is, as a full season away from Scotland will do him good. And watch McGregor grow from strength to strength where he is.

Did not mean to put all of them into the team for full ninety minutes at the same time but to bleed them in when injuries tiredness and suspensions kick in.
NL has been quoted several times recently on the small size of his squad ,lack of cover and player tiredness.
My opinion is simply that when put together with his comment about McGregor there seems to be an unwillingness to give home grown players a chance.
No offence but a greater piece of nonsense has been the money wasted on Bangura, Balde and possibly Pukki who struggle for game time and cost a fortune to warm the bench.

Just heard about the guy that said he wished someone would kill Neil Lennon and that he should have planned his parcel bomb better. The guy has been cleared!!!
Becoming more and more obvious everyday about the agenda everyone has against Celtic

Remember what you vote for when you are asked if you want an independent Scotland! This is what you would be voting in. Make no mistake about it. The powers in the country all love the same goats.

  • Ruggygman says:

Agree entirely john regards the signings…. Pukki and Balde have been costly mistakes… In hindsight we would be no worse off this season, if we entered the season not signing either… The burden would of lied squarely with stokes and commons….. But as you say, atajic should have had the game time that has been afforded to pukki…. I’m sure atajic would of done the team justic… More so than the 2 signings. Similarly, if we let Ledley go, or if Ledley goes in the summer, then for me, macgregor is the replacement.

  • yogi says:

I feared Rogic would be cut loose, and I don’t think the lad will return. The manager didn’t give the guy a fair shake, but shows an abundance of patience for Forrest and others who should not be anywhere near first choices at celtic park. The young fella Rogic could make a killer pass ,whereas Brown couldn’t hit hame on a wet night. We need a manager who has no favourites, which is clearly not the case at our club and hasn’t been for a long time.

    • Joe says:

Stop kidding yourself. Rogic doesn’t have what it takes. If he did, he’d be a fixture in a team crying out for top midfielders? Let him go back to Australia and play at a similar level to Sevco are now.

      • Tom says:

A-League isn’t that far off SPL standard pal. Rogic will go anywhere else and become 1st choice. Lennon hasnt got a clue.

      • Ryan Connell says:

Actually Rogic is one of the most underrated and talented players. And the a-league is actually at a similar level to the SPL, with the exception of celtic, who are kidding themselves not playing Rogic.

  • Graeme says:

Only our two Dutch signings seem to make any sense. And even they have only half worked out.

    • Thomas Haverstock says:

I agree send him out on loan see what he can do Then make up your mind about him I think he could be a good player for us down the road As far as the power the be We haven’t a hope in hell getting a square deal We will allway de second class citizen Hail Hail JMJ
