Malky Mackay familyThe League Managers Association have came out with a strong defence of Malky Mackay after Cardiff chief executive Simon Lim slaughtered Mackay over the transfer of Andreas Cornelius.

The summer signing from FC Copenhagen had his contract paid off last month before returning to Denmark with Lim writing off £8m and putting all the blame on Mackay.

Cardiff have yet to pay their former manager a penny in compensation despite the former Celtic defender taking the club to promotion and being sacked while sitting above the relegation zone.

New manager Ole Gunar Solskjaer has had a disastrous time in charge with Lim’s attack on Mackay coming in the wake of a 3-0 pumping from Swansea last Saturday.

The LMA are in negotiations with Cardiff for compensation over Mackay’s sacking with Richard Bevan forced into responding in defence of a member.

Bevan, chief executive of the LMS, said: “It is most unfortunate that Mr Lim has chosen to speak out in this way. Mr Lim is aware that there is a legal process under way between Malky Mackay and Cardiff City and it is inappropriate for either party to be making public statements of this nature at this time.

“Given that Mr Lim has spoken out against Malky Mackay in relation to the acquisition of a player, however, it is only right that the record is put straight.

“This is the same Mr Lim to whom, under the specific and express terms of Malky Mackay’s contract of employment with Cardiff City, Malky was obliged to report in respect of all matters pertaining to the transfer of players.

“All football clubs at the elite level have systems in place for corporate governance. Cardiff City is no exception. A manager, even in the Premier League, does not go out and “sign” players.

“All recommendations go to his CEO and board, essentially the Chief Executive on the board’s behalf – deals with all financial arrangements to finalise any signings.”

Cardiff are currently second bottom of the Premiership with just one win in eight games since the sacking of Mackay.

Big Malky lost his job, but he came out of this shambles with the fans on his side and looking like a decent guy- unlike the owner and the others involved. I wouldn’t want to be a Cardiff executive when they go down.

Big Malky is a gentleman, and well respected in the game.

No offence to Cardiff fans, but I hope they
    go down.Which looks very probable.

Mr Tan and Mr Lim, will be out on LIMB
    then !!
