Derek Whyte Dubai newsFormer Celt Derek Whyte is arranging an all star Scotland v England match in Dubai next week.

Whyte is a well known face in and around Dubai with a range of media work and a celebrity contact book that brings the big names onto his football shows.

Not many players can resist an invite to Dubai with ex-players such as John Collins, Brian O’Neill, Teddy Sheringham, Peter Reid, Paul Walsh and Des Walker all taking part in next week’s match.

The Legends Game kicks off on Friday, February 28 at 3pm, with entry free to the public, organiser Whyte said: “It’s great opportunity for fans to see some of the best players to grace the domestic game up close and personal.

“Everyone is invited to come and see the legends for free at Jebel Ali. It promises to be a fun packed day with face painting and bouncy castles for the kids.”

As well as his media work with BeinsportsWhyte is the Business Development Manager and Academy Coach for the JAI Centre of Excellence programme in Dubai.

The defender left for Dubai in 2006 at the end of his playing days following a brief spell in management with Partick Thistle.

Former Celtic players are regular visitors to Dubai with the local supporters club the Dubai Hoope regularly hosting events with players from down the years with special dinners recently held for the Lisbon Lions and the Centenary Double Winners.

In 2010 Celtic’s legends team won the Emirates Masters event in Dubai, beating Paolo di Canio’s AC Milan in the final.
