Tony Watt newsTony Watt has been given the Player of the Week award by the respected Voetbal Niews magazine.

The loan striker made a big impression teaching essay writing as he scored twice as Lierse won 5-1 away to bottom of the table Mons.

Team-mate Mario Diagne grabbed a hat-trick but the goals and all round play of Watt caught the attention of Voetbal Niews.

The magazine said: “Lierse is on an excellent run. Since the winter Tony Watt has shown why there was always so much excitement about his potential.

“The Scot had his two goals again a major share in the victory of his team. He is therefore by Football News voted player of the week.

“Watt is hot in Lierse. The striker scored two goals and along with Mario Diagne he punished Mons to the full after they had taken the lead.

“Although Diagne scored three times for us Watt was the most dangerous player, it’s clear he is in good form.

“Lierse gave already indicated that they want to keep the reborn bad boy for longer. It remains to be seen whether Celtic will leave him too.”

After spending some time with Celtic during the winter break it’s understood that Watt has been told that he is at the centre of Celtic’s plans for next season with the Champions League qualifiers starting in mid July.

Watt’s form has helped Lierse to take 13 points from their last five matches lifting the club clear of the relegation zone into mid-table including a 2-0 win over Anderlecht.

Why Watt is not at Celtic Park ! I will never understand !

  • Eebee says:

Basically it’s his maturity or lack of it.Obviously NFL doesn’t condone watts off campus activities so, unless he wises up he will remain out of Lennons plans quite rightly so.

      Eebee,

What do you mean by off campus activities ? Is this not just malicious
      gossip ?

Was,it not maybe down to his lack of
      application in training ?

I wanted Tony back in Jan.But this loan
could be the making of him.The Lierse
manager has had harsh words to say,
      re his conditioning,training etc.

It looks like Tony is answering back his
      critics.
A striker we need for CL qualifiers.
His strong, direct style and nose for goal
is priceless in the modern game.

      Haste Ye Back,Tony.

Give them Pukki and bring Tony back.

  • Ruggygman says:

Probably best staying where u are Tony… You don’t have the less than mediocre qualities Lennon looks for in a striker….. Ha

  • HoopNo7 says:

Think the loan move will have done him the world of good but if he comes back i expect him to walk straight into either Pukki or Baldes place on the bench….

TW needs games, i hope he gets another 6 months at Lierse and brought back then, matured and hungry and once the pressure of CL is gone… He may finally realise his potential as Celtics No 1 striker!

  • Jimmy1940 says:

Proven goalscorer and one of our own, bring him home and give the lad GAMES.
