They aren’t missed and they won’t ever be ‘back’

Neil Lennon FirhillI’m pretty sure that anyone who reads this piece will have had a sore head at some point in their lives – possibly by the end of this blog if you make it that far.

You wake up with the headache and take pain killers or it eventually goes away.

Would anyone miss that feeling ?  Of course not.

In the same way, I don’t miss a group of people shouting / singing racist and bigoted songs.  The same people who want to be up to their knees in the blood of certain people depending on what school they went to as a child.

I don’t miss having to hide my Celtic colours to avoid the car being damaged while travelling through certain parts of the city or going past certain pubs.

I don’t miss “competition” from a team who, for several years, did not compete on a level playing field.  Keep in mind that this is a team who had far more debt than Celtic had while we were the ones who almost went bust.

The reason for this appears to have been related to David Murray and his cronies at the Bank of Scotland.  Suddenly, people who couldn’t have cared less about Rangers and their results took over the bank and suddenly they had to live within their means, which they couldn’t do and no longer exist.

I’m pretty certain the staff in hospitals, police stations, paramedics, pub bouncers, bar staff etc will not miss the aftermath of matches we used to play against our dead rivals.

I started going to watch Celtic during their 9-in-a-row years when we barely won a thing.  We often didn’t even finish second in the league.

During the Rangers 9-in-a-row years, we finished second in the league twice.  And that was the years that they won / bought / cheated their way to (delete as appropriate) their 8th and 9th titles.

During these years, I don’t remember anyone telling me that their wins were any less valuable because there was no strong challenge from Celtic.

However, I’ve heard nothing else apart from how invalidated our titles are and how we need a strong Rangers.  How we can have a strong something that doesn’t exist, I’m not quite sure but how again anyone can miss all of the above things is also beyond me.

I’m pretty certain that I’ve wrote similar views in the past but I was listening to a radio show from what’s known as main stream media journalists and they keep telling me that I miss Rangers.  I’m not sure if they’re trying to convince me or themselves.

Another thing that I can’t let pass without comment is the Lrigh Griffiths incident.  In my opinion, the SFA know fine well that a lawyer, regardless of how good or bad they are will tear their case apart.

Considering what he was singing was pretty true anyway, I can’t see how it can be deemed a “crime”.  Even the Hearts manager was quoted as saying that he never saw the video but that Griffiths was a rubbish singer.  That tells me that he doesn’t care about it and clearly wasn’t offended.

Although, perhaps Griffiths will find his comment about him being a rubbish singer offensive so, in the interest of equality, the Hearts boss will surely have to be charged too?  Do I want that to happen?  Not at all but it does highlight how ridiculous the charges are.

My final point is Beram Kayal’s comments.  I think he will struggle to find a club.  Apart from being at Celtic, he really hasn’t achieved very much in his career.  He’s injury prone or fragile so will any “big” club take a gamble on him?  I doubt it.

Like a few other players, I think it’s time to say cheerio to Kayal.  I believe that his wages could be put to better use.  Im reluctant to say the same about any of this years signings.  Neil Lennon has had a couple of players who have taken a wee bit of time to get up to speed.

I remember some people being unconvinced about Lustig when he first signed.  I’m not sure how this years guys will work out but I’d like to see Derk, Pukki and Balde etc doing what we initially hoped they would do.

If they don’t look the part by next season, then I suspect the January window will be the time to get rid of them.
