Paul-Lambert Aston Villa newsPaul Lambert won’t quit Aston Villa despite the uncertainty surrounding the club.

After the season ended Lambert was summoned stateside for talks with Randy Lerner who is keen to sell the club after eight years in charge.

Lambert has been involved in two relegation battles since joining the midland club from Norwich with next season looking like another battle for survival against a background of growing discontent among fans.

Aked about concerns for his job after returning to Birmingham Lambert answered: “No, I don’t worry about things like that.

“My main objective is the football club. What happens to me will happen. I’ve always been like that. I was like that as a player.

“I’ll try and do my best at every turn, whatever happens happens. I also know it’s going to be a challenge for the season.”

With one year left on his Villa Park deal and the prospect of new owners it’s unlikely to be a quiet summer for the former Celtic skipper.

Lambert’s management CV includes Livingston, Wycombe and Colchester before he found success at Norwich with the 44-year-old in no  mood to quit managing a Premiership club.

“You either quit on something or you keep going and you roll your sleeves up and get stuck into it,” he added.

“That’s what I intend to do. But when you have that uncertainty, it won’t be easy.

“You either quit on it or get on with it and get through it. The most important thing is Aston Villa football club, which I’ve always said.”
