Emilio Izaguirre is convinced that Honduras can head to Brazil on the back of a morale boosting result against England on Saturday.

The two nations meet in Miami on Saturday night with less than a week to go before the World Cup kick’s off.

Following defeats against Turkey and Israel in the last week the Hondras side could do with a good showing against Roy Hodgson’s men with the Celtic defender sure that his nation are in good shape for Brazil.

“Against England we show another side,” Izaguire claimed. “I would say we will play our best side,  in the previous two games we have not been good, but hopefully the eleven players in this match put it all on the field to enhance and restore the confidence of our fans.

“We’re cool, we have faith in God that we will get in rhythm in the first match against France, then against Ecuador and Switzerland. The results just now aren’t so important, everything is geared towards preparing us for the challenge in Brazil.”

Honduras play their opening match of Group E against France on June 15 before facing Ecuador five days later then play their final match against Switzerland on June 25

Izaguirre was an unused substitute against Israel with Celtic team-mate Beram Kayal also watching from the Israeli bench.

Fraser Forster was also an unused substitute last night as England drew 2-2 with Ecuador with Hodgson giving Ben Foster 90 minutes with Joe Hart rested.

The World Cup opens on June 12 when Brazil face Croatia.
