Efe Ambrose can look forward to an extended stay at the World Cup after Nigeria qualified as runners-up to Argentina in Group  F.

With Iran losing 3-1 to Bosnia Hercegovina Nigeria qualified in second place with four points despite losing 3-2 to a Leo Messi inspired Argentina.

The Barcelona hero, and Celtic fan, struck twice in the match but found both goals matched by Ahmed Musa before Marcos Rojo struck the fifth and decisive goal for Argentina.

It was an entertaining match played in front of an enthusiastic crowd with news of Iran losing ensuring that both sides would stay in the tournament into the knock out phase.

Nigeria are likely to play France for a place in the last eight with Argentina due to face Switzerland or Ecuador or although Emilio Izaguirre’s Honduras do have an outside chance of progressing.

France face Ecuador tonight tonight in their final group match while Switzerland and Honduras square up with both side’s hoping that France can win which could put the runners up spot down to goal difference.

While the action on the park has been sparkling off the pitch all eyes are on Luis Suarez after he was seen biting Giorgio Chiellini of Italy.

That controversy has dominated news from Brazil over the last 24 hours with the Liverpool striker facing a possible two year ban from international football.

Liverpool have expressed their concern about yesterday’s incident with even the ever supportive Gordon Taylor of the PFA admitting that he now fears for Suarez’s career in the game.
