Legia WarsawLucasz Zaluska has revealed that he was sounded out about Celtic signing Legia Warsaw midfielder Michael Zyro.

The 21-year-old scored last week in the 5-0 win over St Pat’s that earned Legia the tie against Celtic.

Legia gave Zaluska his break in football with the hoops keeper happy to chat to the Legia website on the eve of the match between the two clubs.

“I’ll let a little secret and say that several months ago Celtic scouts asked me about Michael Gyro,” Zaluska revealed. “Celtic certainly followed things up so there is interest in him.”

Last season Zyro broke into the Legua side scoring four goals in 18 matches.

The build up to the match in Warsaw has been dominated by speculation over the future of Henning Berg who has failed to convince the Legia fans despite winning last season’s title.

Berg, a member of Alex McLeish’s Whitewash defence in 2004, is under pressure to beat Celtic with Zaluska keeping a close eye on his former club.

“We know that it’ll be a tough tie against Legia,” he added. “The players have been asking me what the stadium is like and I’ve told them that it’ll be loud with a great atmosphere.

“Once we get in our hotel on Tuesday we’ll start to look at their players and plan our tactics, we’ll know exactly who we will be up against and what is expected.

“For us and for our fans the Champions League is an absolute priority. A Champions League evening at Celtic Park is something really special,. We’ve reached the group stage in the last two seasons and that’s the level that the club has to play at.
