Champions League

Legia Warsaw enjoyed a morale boosting 3-1 win away to Cracovia Krakow tonight ahead of their Champions League visit from Celtic.

Krakow took the lead in the fourth minute through Dwaid Nowak but Legia drew level through Jakub Kosecki midway through the first half.

Two minutes into the second half Tomasz  Jodowiec put Legia in front with a penalty from Ivica Vrdoljak in the 74th minute sealing the win for Henning Berg’s side.

The win didn’t come without a setback with goalkeeper Dusan Kuciak substituted by Konrad Jaocha just before the hour mark due to a knee injury.

Kuciak has been Legia’s first choice keeper over the last four seasons and would be a big loss if he was to miss the visit from Ronny Deila’s side on Wednesday.

Tonight’s win at Krakow should buy Berg some breathing space with the former Manchester United defender under pressure after losing their opening league match 1-0 at home to GKS Belchatow on the back of drawing at home to St Pat’s.

The visit from Celtic sparked a ticket rush with the Legia hotline in meltdown when they put tickets on sale with their home ground, the Pepsi Arena, holding just 33,000.

Ahead of the clash Ronny Deila left his first choice side at home for the friendly with St Pauli with the hosts winning 1-0 thanks to a first half goal from Christopher Nothe.
