Davie MoyesNeil Lennon, Malky Mackay and Davie Moyes are among the front runners to become the next manager of Crystal Palace.

Last night it emerged that Tony Pullis had left the club by ‘mutual consent’ despite saving the club from relegation and earning the LMS Manager of the Year award.

Behind the scenes arguments about transfer funds are believed to be behind the departure with Palace facing Arsenal in their opening Premier League fixture tomorrow.

Pullis was believed to be against a move for Manchester United’s Wilfried Zaha instigated by chairman Steve Parish forcing the parting of the ways between the Welshman and the club.

Moyes was quickly installed as the bookies favourite but the next manager market is one of the most liquid bets around with Henrik Larsson and Roy Keane both heavy odds-on bets for the Celtic job before Ronny Deila was appointed.

The former Celtic centre-half started last season at Manchester United where his reputation took a hammering but a decade in charge of Everton balancing the books is bound to appeal to most Premier League chairmen.

Moyes is closely followed in the betting by Mackay who has been out of the game since being sacked by Cardiff at Christmas time.

Mackay’s troubles at Cardiff last season started with the sacking of chief scout Iain Moody who moved on to Selhurst Park as director of football. With Moody in place the speculation linking Mackay to Palace is obvious with Lennon also a contender for the job.

The Irishman has never hidden his desire to manage in England and has cut an impressive figure in the media where he was one of the big successes of the BBC’s disappointing World Cup coverage.

With Premiership jobs in high demand there is bound to be plenty of candidates put forward for the Palace job with Moyes, Mackay and Lennon at the front of the queue.
