ForsterFraser Forster will make his Southampton debut at Liverpool next Saturday.

The keeper completed his £10m move to the Premiership side earlier this evening and will go in at the deep end against last season’s Premiership runners-up.

Liverpool have raided Southampton for Ricky Lambert, Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren to ensure that there is plenty of spice to the opening Premier League fixture.

It’s been one way traffic out of Southampton all summer long with new boss Ronald Koeman delighted to bring in his first major signing.

“Fraser is a very talented player and we are delighted to be able to bring him to Southampton,” the Dutchman said. “This is another important part of our rebuilding process ahead of the start of the season.

“The fact that he has worked with Dave Watson before means we already know all about his strengths and weaknesses, and I am confident that we will be able to help him improve even further.

“Fraser is the perfect fit to help complement the players we already have, and he will add a lot of quality to the s an exciting English player with a very good reputation within the game and, at 26, he will enjoy the best years of his career at Southampton.”

Working alongside England goalkeeping coach Watson was a big factor in Forster’s decision to leave Celtic after four years at the club where he won there league titles and starred in the Champions League.

In his final match for the hoops he headed home an injury time corner against Legia Warsaw to send Celtic through to the play-off stage of the Champions League after a 4-4 draw with the Polish champions.
