OgilvieDiscredited SFA chief Stewart Regan has joked about Craig Whyte while the former Motherwell born billionaire ignores SFA fines totalling £150,000.

Having been found badly wanting during 2012 as Rangers went into administration then liquidation Regan felt confident enough to joke about Whyte as he became the latest fourth rate celebrity to take the ice bucket challenge.

Showing what a great lad he is the former Yorkshire County Cricket supremo sat on a chair at Hampden as three members of staff chucked a bucket of water over his head.

Extolling the work done by the Motor Neuron Society, Regan underwent the ice bucket challenge while the standing of Scottish football is at an all time low among supporters.

After taking the challenge Regan nominated Whyte to go under the buckets joking: “And if anyone can find Craig Whyte I’ll nominate him as well.”

While Regan dries off from the challenge a group of Celtic shareholders are still waiting on answers from the SFA as to why Rangers (IL) were licensed to play in the 2011/12 Champions League qualifiers despite having £6m outstanding in taxes due to the Discount Options Scheme used to pay Tore Andre Flo, Craig Moore and Ronald de Boer.

Despite failing to disclose those payments to the SFA no action or sanctions were taken against the club, the scheme was initiated by current SFA president Campbell Ogilvie.

After ignoring the licence issue Regan and Ogilvie were kept upto date by Whyte about the crisis awaiting the club ahead of administration in February 2012.

In the aftermath of administration Whyte was fined £150,000 by the SFA and banned from holding a directorship at any football club- that sanctioned was laughed at by the former Ibrox owner with the fine still unpaid.

On April 23 the SFA announced: “The Tribunal returned a Not Proven verdict in respect of Rule 71.

“The Tribunal found Craig Whyte guilty on three separate counts under Rule 105 and fined him £50,000 in respect of each breach.
“The above sanctions shall be paid within 30 days, with interest of 4% per annum over the base lending rate of Bank of Scotland plc from the date of determination until paid.
“Under Articles 94.1 and 95, the Tribunal expelled Craig Whyte for life from any participation in Association Football in Scotland.”
Two years later the fine remains unpaid with no sign of any court action to recover the money, perhaps Regan would rather attempt to move on for the good of Scottish football.
Responding to the fine Whyte said: “It doesn’t affect my life, I’m just disappointed what it does to Rangers. It’s an outrage.

“It’s a joke, a complete joke. They have never spoken to me. Stewart Regan and Campbell Ogilvie had dinner with me in November and they told me it wouldn’t be a problem. Now they are just reacting to all the publicity since February.

“Rangers fans can see where the SFA is coming from. We are Scottish football’s biggest club, they should be helping us, not kicking us when we’re down. Rangers fans will remember this for a long time.”

Asked if the SFA can enforce his own fine, he responded: “Of course they can’t. It’s farcical.”

Perhaps Whyte’s habit of recording almost all of his conversations has put charity-minded Regan off from taking court action against the man from Motherwell.

It seems that hearing a recording of the cosy dinner enjoyed by Regan, Ogilvie and Whyte has put the SFA off chasing a £200,000 windfall that could go towards covering the salary of their chief executive for 10 months.
