Legia bannerWhinging Legia Warsaw can expect to be hit with a massive fine for a banner unveiled by their fans before the Europa League play off tie against Aktobe.

After deliberately trying to airbrush away two matches of a three game ban for Bartosz Bereszynski the Poles were given a 3-0 forfeit for their second leg tie against Celtic, losing out on away goals on a 4-4 aggregate.

Since UEFA applied their own rules Legia have been screaming foul at anyone willing to listen but have been given the cold shoulder by UEFA and the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Undeterred, or perhaps to cover their own mistakes from their gullible supporters, Legia have continued to bleat about the ‘injustice’ of being caught trying to cheat by fielding suspended players.

Tonight’s banner accusing UEFA of placing money ahead of on the pitch cheating is bound to result in an inquiry and sanctions. The giant banner was unfurled surrounded by flares and fireworks which should also interest UEFA.

Initial sympathy for Legia over their 3-0 defeat at Murrayfield has quickly disappeared due to the cynical way that the club played their fans and the media over their own cheating or incompetence.

Unable to let the subject die away, and hoping to meet Celtic again in the Europa League, chief executive  Dariusz Mioduski warned: “There are a lot of people who think it would be great to face Celtic, from a purely sporting standpoint that would be a great story.

“But there has been a lot of bad emotions and I would be concerned a match like that would allow a lot of those emotions to come out in a way that would make both clubs sorry.

“Judging by the amount of hate I have received, not just from our side but from other Polish fans, there is a risk of trouble.

“The most important thing is football and there was stuff which goes beyond that.

“People had emotions and expressed them. But those emotions would not be good if they came out in an offensive way because of the match. I would be quite worried.”

A stadium ban could be coming Legia’s way from UEFA as they encourage their deluded fans that they are the victims of some sort of conspiracy
