charles greenFormer Sevco chief executive Charles Green has challenged Peter Lawwell to the ice bucket challenge.

Taking a break from his quest to introduce Sevco to unsuspecting billionaires the big ‘anded chancer from Yorkshire took the challenge in what looked like his sprawling chateaux although there was no sign of ‘orses in the background.

It’s unconfirmed whether it was iced water that was poured over the ”ead of the castle loving ‘orse breeder.

Green was nominated for the ice bucket challenge by Hull City goalkeeper Allan McGregor and quickly responded to the challenge- two years after launching Sevco into football.

With crisis never far off the agenda at Ibrox Green has been back in the spotlight in recent weeks with the unquestioning BBC carrying a yarn about George Soros poised to pour billions into the struggling club.

During his 10 months as chief executive Green made a habit of coming up with ridiculous claims which brought the fans onside and shelling out millions on season tickets and shares.

The straight talking chief exec picked up almost £1m for his efforts as well as buying up millions of penny shares alongside fellow penny investors Ally McCoist, Imran Ahmad and Brian Stockbridge.

Green’s interview with the BBC was instantly criticised by the Onion of Fans with McCoist going as far as to suggest that the interview was a factor in the recent loss to Hearts.

“Whether he comes back or not remains to be seen,” the Sevco boss said about Green after the Hearts defeat. “I thought the timing of it again, it is a big day for the players, a big day for the supporters and even bigger day for Sandy Jardine’s family. I just didn’t think the timing of it was great.

“For the first time, one or two of the players actually said to me about the timing of all that kind of stuff.

ice bucket“Everybody does their level best to keep players sheltered and away from it and we will continue to do that because they have to concentrate on results on the park. Sometimes it is a little bit of a sideshow we can do without.”

During his time at Ibrox Green made a number of false promises ranging from deals with Adidas and the Dallas Cowboys through to producing a debt free club with a better balance sheet than Celtic.

Amazingly he managed to bring Walter Smith and McCoist on board to promote a share issue that apparently raised £22m in  December 2012.

Despite that windfall Sevco had to take out emergency loans to make ends meet just 14 months later with those loans due to be paid back by the 1st of September.

No one from Celtic has ever said a word about the Yorskshire born high flyer.

Rather than take part in the ice bucket challenge it’s believed that Lawwell is considering inviting Green along to listen to the music before Celtic’s Champions League qualifier with Maribor.
