Legia WarsawScotland are set to face the backlash of Legia Warsaw when Gordon Strachan’s side travel to Poland on October 14.

Scotland and Poland have been drawn together in the same Euro 2016 qualifying group with the two nations meeting in the third round of fixtures.

Rather than look at their own failings in the Bartosz Bereszynski suspension row the Poles have blamed UEFA and Celtic for the 3-0 defeat that sees Legia drop into the Europa League qualifiers rather than a Champions League play-off.

Strachan can expect a hot reception when he takes Scotland to Warsaw in two months time with the former hoops boss showing Legia no sympathy when he was asked about the suspension row earlier this week.

“Celtic have no part in this at all,” Strachan said. “It’s all down to Legia Warsaw themselves. I don’t think Celtic complained about this – it came from another source – and those are the rules.

“Imagine Tiger Woods – and I’ve seen it before with golf – lining up to take a putt and the ball moves and he addresses it. It’s a penalty stroke. His opponent isn’t going to say: ‘I think Tiger is a nice fella so let’s just let him away with it’.

“Those are the rules and you have to deal with it. Legia Warsaw can’t make them up. We’ve all got rules and we stick by them. Sometimes rules can be really cruel and there’s absolutely no doubt they’ve been really cruel to Legia Warsaw.”

Scotland open their campaign away to Germany on September 7 before hosting Georgia at Ibrox three days before playing the Poles.
