John GuidettiCeltic have completed the deal to sign John Guidetti on loan from Manchester City.

Despite reports that the club were back in for Stefan Scepovic of Sporting Gijon they have moved to sign up the Guidetti.

UPDATE CELTIC SIGN SCEPOVIC

Update: despite completing the deal the notorious SFA registration department, headed by Sandy Bryson, have refused to ratify the move, in England Manchester United confirmed the signing of  Radamel Falcao at 1.30am- two and a half hours after the transfer window closed.

The Swedish striker is out of contract at the end of this season meaning that the move to Celtic effectively puts him in the shop window.

Earlier this month Celtic signed Jason Denayer on loan from the English champions and turned to City again when the deal for Scepovic broke down.

Swedish born Guidetti has had loans spells at Feyernoord, Burnley and Stoke and notched an impressive 20 goals in 21 appearances for the Dutch side during the 2011/12 season.

Speaking on Sky Sports News tonight Neil Lennon confirmed that Celtic had inquired about the striker after his spell at Feyernoord.

Palermo and Fiorentina had been linked with the striker earlier today but the chance to stay in the UK seems to have been the deciding factor in the move to Celtic.

While Guidetti moves to Celtic four players have moved out on loan today.

First on the move was Holmbert Fridjonsson joining Danish side Brondby on a season long loan with Amido Balde going to Belgium to sign for Lokeren while Dylan McGeouch has moved along the M8 to join Hibs for the season.

Later on tonight Teemu Pukki joined Fridjonsson at Brondby.

Guidetti has been dogged by injury and illness problems over the last two seasons but made six substitute appearances for Stoke City last season after moving to the Potteries on loan in January.

Feyenoord had been in touch with Manchester City in recent weeks after the 22-year-old featured in City’s pre-season tour of the North America but with time running out Guidetti decided to become Celtic’s fifth loan signing of the summer.

UPDATE: In previous seasons, after being kept posted by the clubs involved the SFA have approved the transfers of Steven Naismith and David Templeton despite not having all the paperwork at the time the transfer window ‘closed’.
