MubarekSome training ground trickery earned Wakaso Mubarek his Celtic debut.

The Ghanian winger took just 13 minutes to justify his place in the Celtic side against Salazburg as he netted a memorable goal following good lead up play from Scott Brown and Kris Commons.

Celtic earned a credible 2-2 draw with the goalkeeping of Craig Gordon the highlight.

The former Sunderland keeper has stepped effortlessly into the place of Fraser Forster and just like the Englishman famously did against Barcelona Gordon formed a green wall to keep Salzburg at bay.

Speaking after the match to BT Sport Gordon revealed: “Waka (Mubarek) has been brilliant the last two days in training and that’s what got him his start, he scored some great goals in training last night and came up with another today.

“It was a good decision to put him in for his debut I thought that he was excellent.”

Mubarek was the only change to the Celtic side that beat Aberdeen at the weekend and looked capable of troubling the Austrian defence whenever he had possession.

The debut of the Ghanaian and the form of Gordon were the main highlights of the match as Ronny Deila’s plan for the team took a few small steps forward.

Stefan Scepovic, bar a spectacular effort at goal on the hour mark, looked uncomfortable in the sole striker role which appears central to Deila’s formation.

In defence Efe Ambrose and Emilio Izaguirre looked in need of a break following their World Cup exertions. Jason Denayer and Virgil van Dijk were kept busy at the back with Gordon bailing the defence out with a handful of outstanding saves.

Next up for Celtic in the Europa League is Dinamo Zagreb who hammered Astra 5-1 tonight
