Amido BaldeAmido Balde marked his debut for Beveren with a stunning long range strike four minutes into the second half.

From the best part of 40 yards out Balde took one touch to control the ball them smashed an unstoppable shot across goal leaving the Waregem keeper clutching at fresh air.

The match was level at 1-1 at the break when the loan Celt took matters into his own hands spurring his side onto a 4-1 win to lift them away from the relegation places at the bottom of the table.

Balde was one of a number of Celtic strikers on the move as the transfer window closed with Beveren striking a season long deal after Lokeren showed interest in the former Sporting Guimares striker.

Guimares were also linked with a move for Balde but after over a week of talks they were unable to come up with a deal that suited the player and Celtic.

Neil Lennon had high hopes for the 23-year-old but it quickly became obvious that Balde wasn’t suited to the way that Celtic played despite some ironic backing from supporters desperate to have a hero in the side.

While Balde was working wonders in Belgium Marcus Fraser and Dylan McGeouch went head to head at Easter Road where Hibs hosted Cowdenbeath.

Over 11,000 fans turned up to watch the action with the home side scoring twice in the last 12 minutes to give Alan Stubbs a badly needed win.

Elsewhere Jackson Irvine made his Ross County debut in the 2-1 home defeat from Motherwell while Aiden McIlduff was also on the losing side as Clyde lost 1-0 away to Ross County,
