LustigMikael Lustig is fit and ready to play for Sweden against Liechtenstein on Sunday.

The defender hasn’t played a competitive match since being substituted in the second half of Celtic’s Champions League defeat from Maribor.

Lustig was on the bench on Thursday night as Sweden drew 1-1 with Russia and is hoping to see some action against Liechtenstein.

“I’ve been practicing well this week then we will see what Erik (manager Erick Hamren) chooses, but I want to play,” he said after training today. “I’ve said all along that I’m ready to play.

“I thought I was ready last weekend, but they (Celtic) thought it was too early. Had there been a match with Celtic this weekend I had probably would have played.”

After drawing with Russia coach Hamren said:”We started very well and their goal felt like a punch in the stomach. I’m proud that we could come back, even if we missed the penalty. But in the last 20 minutes the players lacked energy.

“I understand it’s better to win one and lose one compared with having two points, but on the other hand our opponents didn’t win either. The fact that Austria beat Moldova and Montenegro drew with Liechtenstein shows there are no easy games at all.

“We managed to keep the ball better in the second half, but it’s difficult for any team to perform at their top level for 90 minutes. Also [Russia] had more days together where they could rest and practise before this match.”

After two draws Sweden are two points behind Austria, Russia and Montenergo at the top of Group G
