Ronny DeilaRonnie Deila has hit out at the media frenzy to see a Glasgow derby when the draw is made for the semi-finals of the League Cup.

As Sevco have made their way through the competition, thanks largely to the SPFL postponing their first round tie against Queens Park to give them Inverness Caley Thistle’s seeded place in the draw for the last 16, the odds have reduced on the two Glasgow side’s being drawn together.

The countdown to the semi-final is likely to overshadow Saturday’s fixtures with Deila growing tired of speculating on who Celtic will come out of the hat with.

“It is not about Rangers, it is about winning the League Cup,” the Celtic boss said at a media conference today asked again about playing the League One champions. “We want to win the treble and we will take whatever side comes in front of us. It is you who wants that.

‘It is a semi-final, whoever we meet, it is going to be big but I think the best teams are in the top division. That’s how it is.

“The teams in the top division are playing at a higher level every week and that is an important thing.

‘We play in Europe also where you have the possibility to show yourself against teams with the best tempo but the cup is the cup and you never know.

‘Whoever you meet it is going to be exciting and it is going to be two good semi-finals.”

Joining the two Glasgow sides in the draw will be Dundee United and Aberdeen.
