Karaoke McCoistOut of touch Ally McCoist has described Micky Ashley’s £2m crisis loan as absolutely fantastic!

With four days to go until the onerous October payroll the troubled club yesterday announced that they had secured a £2m loan from the MASH group secured against the Albion Car Park and Edminston House office complex.

Ashley’s deal allows the Sports Direct supremo to appoint two directors to the club which forced the departure of McCoist’s close friend Graham Wallace who used to work for Manchester City.

Another backer of McCoist, Dave King, recently described by a South African judge as a glib and shameless liar, has warned against the Ashley deal but despite that, and failing to distinguish between a loan and an investment, the Sevco boss is thrilled by the new loan.

“Mike is a very astute businessman and he’s decided to support the club and invest in it,” McCoist told the club website. “I’ve said all along we need investment. All going well, I’d think that would be very positive.

“Change is always a concern but I’ve been reassured this change is moving the club forward and that’s absolutely fantastic.”

McCoist’s judgement has been open to question in the past with Craig Whyte, Charles Green, Craig Mather, Mr Wallace and anyone else with some spare cash getting the backing of the former Question of Sport favourite.

As Mr Wallace was checking out, after a record 11 month spell as chief executive, former Newcastle chief Derek Lambias jetted into Glasgow last night to discuss taking over from Mr Wallace.

Despite McCoist’s backing for the new loan the Sevco boss is likely to find his performance as well as his eye-watering salary in the region of £800,000 a year coming under close scrutiny.

With cost cutting top of the agenda for the Ashley appointed board the bloated first team squad paying generous wages to players such as Lee McCulloch, Marius Zaluska, Nicholas Law, Dean Shiels, David Templeton, Richard Foster and others is likely to come under review before any pledges of a January warchest can be confirmed.

Over 50 fans are expected to take part in a red card protest outside Ibrox before tonight’s League Cup tie against St Johnstone.
