Neil LennonNeil Lennon believes that he’ll be working with ‘good football people’ in Phil Gartside and Eddie Davies.

The Irishman was announced as the new manager of Bolton early this afternoon and is tasked with steering the club clear of relegation.

Two years after being relegated from the Premier League Bolton are hamstrung by a debt of £168m- fortunately most of that is owed to benefactor Davies.

Staying in the top flight for a decade came at a price but Lennon is confident that he can repay the trust of the Wanderers duo.

“I feel very lucky, I spoke to Phil Gartside Wednesday and then met him and Eddie Davies – they are good football people and obviously they are hurting a little bit because of the situation the club finds itself in at the minute,” the former Celtic boss explained. “But they are trusting me to change that and I’m really looking forward to doing that.

“I think there is a really good structure within the club, I went round the training facility yesterday, which was absolutely fantastic. I know the stadium well and I think they have got some very good players at the club.

“I have got a big job on my hands, that’s part of the challenge, getting Bolton back up the table. It’s a great challenge and I’m very excited about it. I’ve left one club with a great history and I’m going to another.”

Lennon will speak to the media for the first time on Tuesday and will make his debut for the club away to Birmingham on Saturday.

After 11 matches Bolton are at the bottom of the Championship with five points from 11 matches.
